Square Circle Forum

I realize that this is a bit late, but the decision has been made to start the tallies over again for this year and see if we can top what we made in 2009. They have already started this over in the ravelry thread and the count has taken off so far.

I think that it will be easier this year if we have one tally, right here, which everybody contributes to. having tallies all over the place has become too confusing, both for you to follow and know which one you are supposed to add your squares too and for me to monitor. Also I fear that there are many squares going uncounted because of this.

the 2010 tally will count in every square from January 1 2010 all the way to the bottom (or to the end, if you are a native mandarin speaker,) of the calendar year in the end of December.

and you will each be responsible for adding your numbers to the numbers of the comment above. if this is still confusing, one of us can hlep you out for a while until everybody gets the hang of it, but its quite simple and should catch on quickly.

Here are our 2009 totals to beat:

7128 squares
555 hats
60 vests
279 sweaters

now I see that a lot of the groups have already started a 2010 tally, so their squares are being added in to start of with, so the current tally is:

475 squares
10 hats
1 vests/slip-overs
0 sweaters/go-overs

and the ravelry tally is ~800 away from surpassing their last year's totals as well, at least in squares. If this is what the numbers are looking like this year, I cannot imagine what we will be doing in the next few years to come.
I agree, it's mind boggling. But given the number of contacts now being found in South Africa, the number of squares and blanket packs being handed out, it looks like Ronda might actually be able to see her floors soon and we can keep firing squares over, the more the better from the look of some of the needs. It's humbling, inspiring and thrilling to be helping like this "hand to hand and heart to heart". It's a true joy. :D
Just sent 28 squares - some wool and some acrylic. New total:

3898 squares
510 hats
23 vests
10 gloves
55 go overs
39 slip overs

10 KAS cuddles

I have an urge to knit two squares tonight, just to move that tally up to 4000!
We must be well over that now Elizabeth. I have a pile of squares that I haven't added to the tally as I usually wait until I post them before adding them to the totals.
I'm hoping to get them off the middle of May. Hopefully by then the airplanes will be running normally.
I've got a few here that I haven't added it yet as well- like you I add them when I post them. It's just amazing to think that we've got over 4000 squares in less that 4 months, plus everything else!
I have completed my 35 squares for April. I promise I will keep going though.
