A Visit With ANNEKE

Last month, while visiting family I had the opportunity to meet KASister Anneke.

We had a delightful day…chatting the whole time !!

Here we are with our husbands enjoying coffee and fresh mint tea in an outdoor café.

After our refreshments the men went bird watching on the polder while Anneke and I went….

to the wool shop !

We had a fun time checking out textures and softness of all the yarns. [I did buy a ‘few’ balls]

The shop owner, wearing the traditional dress, was charming.

I think Anneke spends a lot of time in her shop!

We ended, what seemed like a very short day, with a lovely evening meal.

Thank you Anneke and Kees for a most enjoyable day.

  • Looks like a very wonderful visit!  I wish some KASPals lived closer to me.

    • Is there nobody close by Robin?  Awwww.  Most KASers live a few hours from me too.  Then I made the mistake of saying online that I was down in Omaha for a 1 day quick visit to the zoo there with my daughter, grandson and her hubby on my vacation and two KASers about throttled me for not telling them, LOL.

  • The flowers look as beautiful as your squares Anneke.
    • Point well made Cath.  Maybe Anneke gets her inspiration from her garden!

    FOUR MONTHS LATER.......

This is what happens to your garden when Linda and Dave visit the Keukenhof! They couldn't take the bulbs - a gift from the Keukenhof- home but accepted them to give them to us, which was a lovely surprise. I thought Oh wow! now I will have tulips and hyacinths, maybe also daffodils in my garden NEXT Spring! But after reading carefully the instructions I saw that it were lilies and gladiolus, the colours were not mentioned.....what a wonderful surprise to have at least 15 blooming gladiolus in white, pink, purple, violet and many yelow lillies!!! We watch them grow every day and as you will notice they are very big - a length of 1.20 to 1.40 metres- I am almost over the moon to have such beautiful flowers.....fond memories to Linda and Dave for ever!

    • Anneke, your gladiolus, lilies and hydrangea? - all of them are so beautiful and look so fresh. Unfortunately this summer was too hot and dry in our country, so nature  suffered a lot and flowers seemed to be a bit tired...

    • Wow wow wow, what gorgeous flowers!  I am so glad you're getting a chance to love them so much.  That last one with the deep red throat is my fav I think but what a lovely gift from Linda and Dave and the Keukenhof. :D

    • Anneke, little did we know how beautiful the flowers were going to be from those brown, dormant bulbs !   When I think of the Keukenhof I think of tulips and never expected to see gladioli and lilies enjoying the sun in your garden.

We don't have flowers to remind us of our lovely visit with you and Kees but we do have our memories. xx

    • What an absolute riot of colour. How beautiful.

    • Anneke, your jacket blends so well with the colours of the garden.  I at first thought that you planted the garden to fit the jacket colours.  Thank you Linda and Dave.
