Square Circle Forum

Hi everyone

I've opened up this category because I'd love to get that buzzy, chatty, fun feeling back in 2010. We have such a wonderful group of people in our KAS community and it's always fantastic to hear from everyone, whether it's to do with KAS, the children, ideas, or just fun stories about what's happening in your lives.

We've just hit over 750 member, which is brilliant! Therefore I hope that we'll all get to chat throughout the year and get to know one another better. It's February already so let's get chatting.

Grab a cup of tea, coffee (or even a sneaky wine!) and tell us about yourself, we're waiting to hear...

I'm off to grab a cuppa x x x

Just wanted to say I was so proud of myself when I recently saw my name on the list of received parcels. I was a bit worried about it because I had trouble getting it posted here in the village post office in France. However, now that I know that the parcel arrived safely and I understand the French system better, I will soon be sending another one.
I think this a great way to get people together and it's lovely to hear from people from all over the world. I have lived in France for about 18 months but about 6 months ago I was diagnosed with a heart condition. At the time of diagnosis and when I came out of hospital I was told not to do anything strenuous so that is when I started knitting again. The health system is fantastic here so I hope that the docs will keep me going for some time yet.
I'm so glad that you have found knitting to be of benefit to keep you busy when you have to relax. I always find crochet relaxing and it is my chill out time whilst I study at university. It is great to see your name on a recieved list isn't it? It is even better when you spot a square in one of the photos. Keep watching, I had one in the December ezine and I'm still delighted.
Hope your heart condition is behaving its self.
Best wishes
Jeni
Thanks Jenny. I am looking out for my squares. It's great that Kalai takes those photo's. also isn't Kalai a lovely name. I get my first grandchild at the end of this month, we know it is going to be a boy and my daughter-in-law wants an unusual name for him. She's a book illustrator so she's arty and wants something unusual for the baby. However, I wasn't too pleased when she came out with Pablo after Picasso. That one has been dropped as her parents revolted too!
Your little boy is gorgeous and he has a great name too.
Hi Eva

So pleased you found your name on the list. I'm sorry to hear about your illness but I'm sure you'll be knitting for a very, very long time yet. Thank you for the compliment about my name. It is unusual and that's why I love it.

I wish I could take credit for the photos but that is my aunt Ronda (she's in South Africa). Sandy and I and the rest of our family are in Australia. We do all the other not on the ground work for KAS) I'd absolutely love to be on the ground, taking photos and handing out blankets. That would definitely be a rewarding job.

Congratulations on your grandson. I hope they come up with a name that everyone is happy with x x x
Thanks Eva, yes he is my pride and joy. I started to crochet cause I wanted to make a blanket for him. Now I just can't stop. How lovely for you to be getting a grandchild. My parents have quite a collection and love them all very much. Babies are just wonderful. I look forward to hearing the name when it is decided. My nephew (now 6 months) is called Ethan. We didn't want boring names either but also didn't want to burden our kids with names that wee 'too' wierd. Spelling issues, name calling etc There was a Pocohontas McCafferty born in the same hospital as my son but several years before - what was her mother on? Best of luck with the new addition to the family and keep us posted.
Jeni
Aidan is a not so usual name. Of course there's always Ethelbert. As you say Jeni, what were some people on at the time? And then there's Rose Pink. And watch out for initials...Alan Steven Stanford sounds fine until you check the initials. Here's an incredible list of what SOME people have reportedly named their babies:

Porsche Kia Polo Cashmere Denim
Del Monte Pistol ESPN Aheavy Alphasigmaphi
Aquarius Artist Barefoot Battleship Beethoven
Birdie Casino Elevator Famous Gimme
Handsome Hightower Lasagna Learned Quarter
Stereo Starsky Sahara Beauty Bobcat
Car Cellars Cheers Crayon Dimple
Earthaline Factory Hum Hurrah Lemonia
Luncheon Lullaby Magazine Poppin Risque
Space Thee Trivia Unique Vodka

CRIMINTLY, what were people sniffing???? :D
Good grief! This is quite amazing. (I love Cashmere, though).
My daughter's name is Aria, which gave her a bit of pause in grade school because teacher's (and her grandfather) had trouble pronouncing it. But as an adult she appreciates the beauty of it, I think.

I love the name Aria, very beautiful. I agree Cashmere sounds cool too. Some of the names are more rare than weird, others well... ;)
Now you are being naughty! If it get's to anything like that I will give the child a name that I like. Anyway he is not born yet (my baby) 24th of Feb. so they tell me. You see how it is, I don't trust them. How can they possibly wrap my magnificent grandson in the best of the best when they can't even choose a name.
Not right, is it? They are telling me that when they see his face they will know the name. My son and daughter-in-law both need putting down. You can all see that the child should be handed over to me the minute it is born.
Adoring Nana.
I am about to send a parcel.
Love to you all.
Also I am going to kill you Jeanne.
congratulations Eva
not long to go Feb 24 hope all goes well
lots of love

My grandson was born on the 3rd of March. He is gorgeous, when I figure out how to put photo's on the computer I will post one. I think his name is going to be Logan Oliver James. That's not too bad. However, they still haven't registered him, so this may all change. They have 6 weeks in England to register the child, so they are still not 100% sure. I think that they try names out on him and see how it sounds. Did you ever hear anything like that? My daughter in law knew about the pregnancy very early and still they can't come to a decision. Oh well, I'm just happy that the little one is happy and healthy.
