Squares are made and sent to KAS from all over the world. When they arrive, they must be sorted, packed into bundles of 35. Then they are given to the Gogo groups and KAS volunteers to be made into beautiful blankets. They are returned to the KAS workshop and finally travel in the KASmobile to be distributed to the children who need them.
This is why we are jingling our bells early in the year. We want our Christmas blankets to be ready in plenty of time for Christmas
Give free rein to your creative talents. You can make PJ’s, striped or appliqued squares.
Rudolf the red-nosed reindeer,
Make this Christmas the best yet for KAS’s 10th anniversary.
AND of course all toys are welcome to share the fun.
The PoM this month is the Alphabet crochet square.
Instructions and graphs can be found in the KAS pattern book.
Here is an "N" for NOEL to start you off.
Marvellous Sharon, you are so clever! I shall certainly be trying this but I'm running behind this month so I might not get time. It's on my to- do list.
Do we know if there are any South African Christmas traditions the kids will be familiar with that we could use on our squares?
I don't know, Rebecca, but I'll try and find out.
I've sent a message to Mabel to see if she can help.
I like this square very much, Lesley. That's a nice variation on the usual granny. I'm glad you found time to try it.
Love this square, Lesley. I must try to figure out how you did the white rows... is it just SC and chains to the next hole?
That's right, Anne - sc and chain 3, so the corners are sc, chain 3, sc. I think it's called block stitch. Do have a go - I look forward to seeing the result!
Beautiful! Whatever the true colors, this is Christmas in every way.
I quit worrying about the 'must try' list never getting shorter, I just keep adding to it and figure it means I have a long life still ahead of me. And so do you, and that means really good things for KAS, like this beautiful square.
I love this one, Lesley! Christmas colors with little 'snowflakes' adorning it. Beautiful ... xo
Oh Lesley, I so often have to put whatever I'm working on to one side because I've got the urge to try out a new pattern I've found. Thank Heavens KAS can use them all so the time is never wasted. Yours is lovely by the way, yet another new one to me.
Totally agree with Glo's very apt description...it's a GORGEOUS square, Lesley. :))
