Square Circle Forum

Hi everybody

I have had Ronda specifically ask that we send beanies that will fit adult heads. Toddlers heads are pretty much the size of an adult's and they have been struggling with all the beautiful beanies that are being sent because they are too small for the children's heads.

So please, so that these little children don't miss out make your beanies bigger.

Thank you and thank you for all the beautiful work you do. Never fear, heads will be found to fit the smaller beanies but from now on we need them adult sized.

Cheers x x x

Thanks for the head-up Kalai, the hats are a vital tool for keeping the babies warm and healthy - we lose 90% of our body heat through the head and throat.  Street market traders know to keep a spare hat in the van just in case - many a time we have been fooled by a sunny blue sky only to get to market and find it is not warm!
So true Pam, I love a warm hat in winter and these children need them desperately.
Glad you want the larger sizes as one of mine is certainly generous! I did the "easy garter stitch hat" posted by P.Jeanne, from a Lion Brand Pattern. Quick and fun to do so I'll get on with another. Will definitely fit teenager.

I am SO glad you've posted this Kalai as I've been concerned that the beanies in some photos were too small but I didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings by saying so right there.  I always check the hats I do against my own head size...(it's Large, my two brain cells roll around in it quite freely!  ;) ) if the hat is nearly fitting me then it's good, a teen size for sure.  One hat got away on me and I had to gather it in.  No surprise, given my Go-Over attempt, lol!  :P

So YES, adult and teen sized hats ONLY please, so the kids don't grow out of them.  Thanks so much ladies!   :D

jeanne - thats what i do with the hats i have done, i check to see that they fit my head, some have been snug but they have gone on my head! My other half does give me a weird look when i keep trying them on, mind you i have asked him to model a couple for me!

I don't know if anyone else has tried the "Samaritan's purse"

hat pattern posted recently(well the link to it was). It's fun to do and knits up unbelievably fast. As it uses 2 strands of DK / light worsted it is warm and stretchy and, folks, will take care of your oddments!!!

Now I'm walking and driving again and can reach up and down for things I'm going to have a packing and posting session this week AT LAST.

So glad to hear you're so well on the mend Anne! :D  And thanks for a reminder yet again of that excellent hat pattern.  Do you have the link to the hat pattern as I see it's not over in the Patterns-hats area and it sounds like it ought to be?  Any pattern that works up fast, is stretchy and warm is a guaranteed winner!

Anything like this, stretchy, warm, colorful and BIG enough is superb:

AWESOME!!!
Rhonda Gryga made all these and more (35) while she was sick.  Aren't they superb?

Hi Jeanne and all. The place to go for the stretchy hat pattern is

www.operationchristmaschild.org.uk/knitting-patterns  There are other downloadable patters as well as the hat. I think it might have been Kathy Platts who posted the link 1st? I've rounded up pairs of colours which go well together for the next few hats so it has helped me rationalise my stash :)

I love those stretchy beanies. Can that pattern be adapted to be knit in the round on circulars?   I hate sewing up seams.
