I made two of these over the weekend and I'm in love with the pattern! It worked up quick and finished nicely. Here's my son (the ham) modeling his hat:

He's four and his head measures about 20.5 inches/52cm. I say "about" because he won't hold still for me! I took 9 pictures, and this is the best shot of him in this hat.

 

To fit him, I used aran weight yarn on a 5mm hook. I skipped the band and button on this one, but I have another blue one that I am going to add some pink flowers to.

Great hat pattern - thank you! The brim really makes it stand out. :o)
I am thinking in the bright sunlight of South Africa a brim could be useful.  Glad you've found a pattern that works so well for you!
