Square Circle Forum

Hello to all our dear forum members,

I know that the McDonald's have been very quiet for some time in the forum so I am writing to apologise and say hi! As usual none of us have enough hands, brains, eyes, ears or mouths to keep up with everything, however in the New Year we hope to change that.

We really would love to up the forum chatter again, it's sad when we don't hear from people as often. So, tell me, what is happening for you all over the Christmas New Year period? I know that not everyone celebrates Christmas/New Year, but hopefully you'll all have some time off at the end of a busy and terrifyingly quick year!

We are off camping again this weekend. Two weeks of nothing (actually I say that but camping turns out to be a lot of hard work!), well apart from beaching, eating, drinking, avoiding spiders and snakes, long drops, no showers and best of all no technology!!

Love to you all x x x

Oh and a BIG, HUGE thank you to Pam Antink for all the work she's been doing in the forum and on our facebook page to help us keep up. Thank you Pam x x x

A very Merry and safe Christmas to you and your family Kalai and may 2012 be a happy and prosperous one too.

I have enjoyed becoming more involved (interactive?? my attempt at techno talk..lol) in the forum and having the chance to chat with people I would otherwise never have 'met'.

Many thanks to Pam A. for keeping me up to date with news from Facebook and for positive comments given  to me when technologically challenged. You make everyone feel so welcome, Pam.

Interactive seems like the perfect word to me Bev! It's been lovely seeing you around the forum, I hope that you and your family have a very special Christmas and New Year too. Lots of love x x x

Merry Christmas to you and your family, Kalai-it sounds as if you will be having a very different Christmas to the one we shall be having in the snow and sleet covered UK! I hope you have a wonderful time and manage to avoid those spiders!

Merry Christmas and thank you to Pam-I agree completely with Bev's remarks about the forum, I love being able to chat on here and knowing I have friends with shared interests all around the world.

I shall be having a strange Christmas this year, my first for many years without my family round me:( I am working all four nights of the Christmas weekend in the elderly care unit where I am senior night sister. Our work definitely is 24/7 and it doesn't matter what day of the year it is, our routine continues. Because of that my daughter won't come home until the 27th Dec(she lives 100 miles away) As my mother is now very elderly and lives 500 miles away, she and my sister will be unable to come to visit as they have done in the past so it will just be the cat and I on Christmas day and I shall spend most of it sleeping (actually so will he;) )! However we are hoping to spend some time later in the week with my son, his partner and my grandchildren so we are trying to be positive and telling ourselves that we are just extending the festivities! At least I won't be getting hot and bothered in the kitchen on Christmas Day and worrying about whether the turkey is properly defrosted:) I am looking forward to the New Year when I can get back to concentrating on knitting/crocheting without feeling guilty about not having written those Christmas cards yet!

Hi Charis

To be honest, sleeping all on Christmas day with my two cats would be amazing!! I do hope you don't feel too lonely and that your celebrations on the 27th and onward are wonderful and festive.

I am petrified of spiders and last year I nearly sat on one, so I am working up my courage slowly but surely. We really are looking forward to our break though. I hope you get some time off Charis, much love x x x

HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL!!!

Mailed two boxes of squares to Jigsaw and then commenced trying to get a bunch of "fingerless" gloves done for my girls and grandkids.  We leave on Tuesday for New Hampshire for Christmas.  My youngest daughter and her family will be with us from Chicago, and our oldest daughter and her family from Barnstable, Cape Cod, will also be with us.  I'm looking forward to spending the next week in sweat pants on the floor with my grandchildren (3, 6, 13 and 16) playing games and putting presents together.  Our son from Ohio and his wife and two girls can't make it for Christmas, but are looking forward to beach time with us this summer.

Will get back to my squares right after the new year.  Again, HAPPY HOLIDAYS to everyone around the world who are part of this "WICKED AWESOME" group!!!!!!

Happy Christmas and New Year to you too Laurie. Every time I hear New Hampshire mentioned I can't help but think of one of my favourite authors John Irving. Do you know his books?

Your Christmas sounds absolutely wonderful, enjoy your grandchildren Laurie. Lots of love x x x

Thanks Laurie for wishes for everyone on KAS at this special family time.  Yes, KAS certainly is a Wicked Awesome group - made up up of some of the kindest hearts on earth, we are making things ACTUALLY happen and ACTUALLY get things done!  We reciprocate your wishes Laurie, have a safe journey and indulge yourself in those wicked sweat pants with your grandchildren.

Thank you also Kalai, Bev and Charis for your very kind and supportive remarks.  However, my feeling is that EVERYONE who adds a comment on this wonderfully friendly & positive forum brings vitality to the KAS WORLDWIDE WINDOW - our shop window is alive and glowing, tempting passers-by to come in and join a group that does things in a direct way that truly improves the lives of seriously disadvantaged children.

Compassion is our game, but along the way we keep it light-hearted, with special thanks to Jeanne & Linda who add the wicked, whilst I'm only a bit naughty!

OVERVIEW OF KASERS

Lovely quote by Khalil Gibran : Beauty is not in the face, beauty is a light in the heart.

My experience of KAS members is that KAS hearts are blazing and by linking up around this planet we are not only  bringing beauty, but a light that is more powerful than the sun into the lives of these valuable children living in Africa.

Beautiful message Pam, I absolutely love the shop window idea. It makes me think of our Christmas windows in a department store in the city. Absolutely glowing, warm and beautiful to look at.

Thank you for all you do Pam. Much love x x x

"Only a little bit naughty" Pam?  Nice try, lol.

Hope everyone had a very Happy Holiday time, whether sleeping with the cat, out and about with friends, fussing over food or going sliding, skating, sledding or Ski-Dooing, or surfing, depending on where you live!  I too am looking forwards to January to get back to making squares for KAS.  It was fun to do the hats and scarves for presents for everyone but now I want to start making some Jewels too!  Love to you all.

And we only had to replace our Christmas tree once....Chester is learning, heh heh heh.

Good King Wenceslas phoned Domino's for a pizza.
The salesgirl asked him:-
'Do you want your usual?  Deep pan, crisp and even?'

If you get this one on first reading, you deserve a medal, I had to have it explained to me!

Mike walks into a bar with a newt on his shoulder.
The barmaid looks at the creature and asks the man what he calls it.

    'Tiny', answers Mike.
   'Why's that?' enquires the barmaid.
'Because he's my newt' concludes Mike.

Explanation:  (my newt....minute...tiny....sigh)

Aw Jeanne, your comments are much funnier, and sometimes, wickedly so, than these Christmas Crackers one!

Ahh but today is Sunday, my day of rest, so no wiseacre comments today from my brain, it's "off duty".  I restricted myself to adding very funny photos in the furry companions thread instead.
