Permalink Reply by Pam Antink on December 14, 2010 at 9:42pm Mary you are absolutely spot on - jam-packed with exciting features. Like your photo, I was 'chuffed to bits' to see one of the labels we use on all our parcels, regular mail, and, coming up, they will be brightening up the envelopes of Christmas cards. Sandy, take some deep breaths before you tackle the next step - Cressies wedding, we wish the whole family a very very special day.
certainly well worth waiting for.
I 2nd Pam's thought, Sandy....get some rest before the BIG DAY!!!!! best wishes to Cressida and future husband

Permalink Reply by Mary Kristel Lokken on December 15, 2010 at 9:47am May I suggest that if any of you, like me, are tired of all those silly little gifts for Christmas that eventually end up in the landfill, you suggest to your friends that they might better spend that money on yarn that you will use for Knit-a-Square, needles, crochet hooks, yarn needles (and if you get too many, you can just send them on to South Africa where they will be deeply appreciated), or simply a donation to Knit-a-Square?
The link is on the right side of every page of the forum!

Permalink Reply by P. Jeanne Haessler on December 15, 2010 at 5:40pm I agree 100%. I've been suggesting donations to charities I support instead of birthday presents for years. I sometimes suggest it for Christmas too. We are so blessed compared to so many in the world, I love the idea of helping them any way I can. :)
Permalink Reply by Rachel A. on December 15, 2010 at 6:48pm Yes, thank you, Sandy! I loved all of the pictures and stories and good news! Thanks for putting in all the time to make the ezine to help us feel connected to the work we are doing!
Permalink Reply by Pam Antink on December 15, 2010 at 8:17pm Another excellent suggestion Mary. I often wonder how many gifts find their way into local charity shops - I've done it myself and given my brother some to take as he lives in another town. I especially didn't want eyebrow shaver!
Permalink Reply by Mary Kristel Lokken on December 17, 2010 at 11:48am I got one of those once!
:-)))
Permalink Reply by Pam Antink on December 17, 2010 at 8:07pm Gosh Mary, you too! I found myself checking my eyebrows as I wondered if there was a hidden message from the lovely giver..........
Permalink Reply by Beth on December 17, 2010 at 6:37am I love your idea Mary about asking for yarn to use for knitting for KAS instead of gifts that we don't really need! I will be suggesting that for sure in the future :)
Permalink Reply by Mary Kristel Lokken on December 17, 2010 at 11:51am The great thing too is that for KAS almost any kind of yarn is ok (as long as it's soft and warm), so anyone can buy whatever they like, without having to be experts!
Permalink Reply by P. Jeanne Haessler on December 20, 2010 at 10:18am Yes, my 5 year old niece gave me a mega ball of purple wool last year for my birthday. I must tackle it...I could make two blankets from it I think, lol. But it was her favorite color so I was like "Awwwww." :) And it is cheerful!
Great suggestion Mary. We have asked our family for a donation to KAS instead of gifts. Also, we calculated how much we spend on family gifts and adopted a creche instead. We will be making up cards with the photos of "our" creche featured in the December ezine.
