There is a sewing program in the U.S. that I watch called Sewing with Nancy. During a recent episode on "sewing green", Nancy and her guest demonstrated how to make mittens out of felted wool. It looks like a quick and easy way to make them! Click on the link above to check out the video.

In a nutshell, take two layers of wool and pin a paper mitten template to one side. Sew around the paper template, through both layers. Trim to 1/8" of the seam and turn right side out. Voila! You can also wear them on either hand.

Enjoy!

Interesting idea...I only know of felted mittens which you knit, it's called thrumming...and the inside gets felted due to use.  These look like something our sewing ladies could really whip up fast and they'd sure keep little hands warm at night and when it rains and in winter!   Some of our KASers love felting up old sweaters and mittens could be made in smaller sizes from felted sleeves that would NOT make into blanket squares, at least that's what I'm thinking.  Good idea to share the link, I've watched Nancy's shows when I can, they're good and always interesting, full of tips. :)

And this is recycling to the max.  Thanks!
