I have filled in the form on the groups page to start a group on fund raising. It is awaiting acceptance. The group is not intended to take away from the forum discussions on individual initiatives to raise funds or requests for materials to use etc.It is aimed more at suggestions and on collective  efforts to raise money for the SA and Australian ends of KAS. which do not rely on work from Sandy or Ronda. They're already busy enough, and some. Obviously nothing should be done without Sandy's OK. If the group is OK'd is there a suggestion out there for an illustration and can someone tell me how to post it.

My first thought is to make enquiries about getting KAS registered as a charity in the UK. I think it is free to register with the charity commissioners and I am going to find out the details of what is required.

  • Way to go Sylvia - I will be joining your group. As a mod I can approve the group - but did you know you have posted 2 groups?? that is perfectly fine if you meant to do it that way - perhaps the focus of each is different?? Let us know
    • Ooops. I only intended one group. Glad to have you on board Anne.

      • Grrrrr! I've just cast off a square. I thought I was making the final one of the 2nd sleeve of a go-over. And I've realized I've made it a 10" square instead of an 8". Ah , well. At least I have enough yarn left in the right colour to make another square. The 10" one will have to have a place in the body of another go-over.

I've not been posting on the forum much in the last couple of days. One day was taken up with meetings, to do with the older people's group I'm involved in locally. And the other day was spent looking at, and deciding on, a car. I'm without transport at the moment and life can get difficult if you are car less where I live. A little adaptation will be needed to the new car, and I don't know how long that is going to take. In the meantime I am relying on favours from others to get about. Can't wait to get the whole thing sorted. Kind as people are, I don't want to presume too much on their good will.

Five days since the Fund Raising Group started and the response has been amazing. Eighteen members, pouring out fantastic ideas and with so much energy and enthusiasm. It really is a privilege to be part of this wonderful community of generous and committed people.

There's room for any number of people in the group, so drop by, sign up, be inspired.

  • Right I've taken the plunge. Goodness knows what I've let myself in for. Perhaps nothing will come of this, perhaps two or three people will be interested, perhaps lots. Perhaps Sandy and others won't like the idea. We shall see.

As I knit I think about Kas quite a lot and it has been on my mind for a long time that something needs to happen on the funding front. It's hard. We're in the middle of a world wide financial crisis, and Sandy and family have been working very hard on this. We take on knitting collectively. Isn't it logical to take on fund raising collectively?
