A dentist adopts a creche

"Keep up the good work that you are doing as you will certainly have the satisfaction of knowing that somewhere in South Africa a vulnerable child is being emotionally assisted and kept warm thanks to your willing soul and hands."

I know it's a lot of work to write all these posts, ezines and blogs, but I want you to know Sandy that they are so inspiring. And the photos are great, too!

I agree with everyone else. So great to meet you Beth and thank you SO MUCH for helping KAS to keep the children warm. You're giving our wonderful US contributors so much help by sending on their squares for them. Bless your caring hearts. Thank you, thank you, thank you. :)
Beth,
When we send our squares to Planet Purl should we just throw them in the box and send them so that you can go through them all, or would you like us to package them in the plastic bags (like we would if we were sending them to S.Africa) so that you can just put the bags in your box to send them?
Please pack them just as you would if you were sending to s. africa. We have received lots and lots of loose squares and should have bought stock in Ziploc. Also, it would be a big help is you could mark the ouside of your box with the total number of squares packed? Keep 'em coming....
Beth,
Thanks for the information! I will be sure to pack them in bags and write the number of squares up by the return address label. Have you found a more economical way of sending the squares besides using the US Post Office? I'm just wondering if there is a better way to send them once we can't send them to you anymore. Thank you!
Hi everyone, have just read through this discussion and wanted to say I'm so grateful for all of your support. Have just had a rather nasty email criticising all the hard work that Mum does on the communications. Very difficult to deal with! I can't help but be a bit defensive. So it's very nice to reread your supportive messages. Thanks again ALL x x x
Oh Kalai,
I am so sorry to read about that email. Unfortunately, no matter how hard one tries to do something worthwhile in this world there is always someone who will try to knock the ground from under your feet.
Just know that there are thousands of us who are behind your Mom and your family, all the way.
The number of squares and other items making their way across land and sea and reaching this country are a proof that we are answering the call.
Your Mom's communications have touched us to the quick and we have responded.
Delete that email and don't bother with mean and nasty people.
lots of love - Jen
Ahhhhhh thank you Jen! I feel much better now. Thank you so much for your kind words. Email deleted! x x x
I should think so! How dare they!
Hi Kalai!
Glad to hear you deleted the email! Now hopefully you can just forget about it. People can be very mean - the best thing (for me) is to pray for that person. So let's all pray for the person who wrote that email.

Sandy, and your whole family, are amazing. It's hard to even believe how amazing you all are.

Take care!
Mary
I agree there are always those who want to rain on our parades. We're doing good, what are THEY doing? Physicists once measured that thoughts can travel a minimum of 225,000 miles...how they figured that out I don't know, but I DO know that KAS's workers, their caring hearts, the committed people in Africa sewing the squares, are putting a TON of positivity and caring out into the world. It's easy to hate, to be a cynic, it's the HERO route to refuse to give up and to keep giving, loving, caring and working to help others. Cowards have no place in KAS and I'm sorry you got subjected to one. I just looove the delete button--long may it reign! Love, hugs and high fives to all! Jeanne :)
This is the latest from Erin, thought I might add it here, this refers to the backlog, there's still many squares in Ronda's house:

We have sorted out the backlog, ladies. Anne is correct in saying that the reason we have asked for the inserts with addresses and no. of squares is, indeed, in anticipation of all the squares arriving and in order to streamline the processing of squares and packages on this side...

We are really running smoothly at the moment as far as opening goes and we are getting lots of squares out to our sewers to make up into blankets. Yay!

Just FYI from Sandy:

Regarding the JKK boys: "Everything we received was delivered on that day (of our visit) and the boys will certainly be warm now walking to school."

"whatever arrives in South Africa makes its way, over time as we can, to needy children and that we are not always able to record every distribution. Piles of clothes go with Lindi and Wandi whenever they open squares and they distribute through their parishes. They neither of them have cameras at this point."

"The KasCuddles will be handed out when we do creche distributions, where there are small babies. There will be photographs of go-overs and kascuddles at some point for the ezine. As you would understand our recent family bereavement has meant that Ronda was not involved in distributions for a period of time."
