Hi! I'm Jessica, I'm eighteen and from a town in Illinois.

I found this project on a DIY page on Tumblr.com.
I instantly wanted to do it.

I knit and crochet but I am much better with knitting.
I am so excited to create squares and maybe a few other things for this project!

I hope to make some friends on here and would love to hear from
you all about your experiences.

Jessica

  • Hi Jessica!

My name is Rachel and I`m 30 years old.

I live in Germany but my Mum is British,so I also speak and write English..

I love to knit but have just recently been doing a lot of it.

As I work in a Kindergarden I don`t have that much time:-(

My Mum and I have knitted some squares and  hats which we want to send at the end of the year!

What are you knitting and what do you do besides knitting:-)

I`ve always wanted to go to America,a few years ago I went to South America.

    Hope to hear from you!

    Rachel

  • Welcome, Jessica! My husband used to live in Columbus, OH. Now we live north of Toronto, Ontario. Isn't it interesting how those who can both crochet and knit always prefer one over the other. I'm a crocheter and wish I could knit!

All items are welcomed and needed... squares, hats, GO-Overs, Slipovers, KASCuddles, soft toys, stationery items (pencils, erasers, notebooks, etc.), educational items (flashcards, workbooks, etc.), craft items (crochet hooks, knitting needles, sewing needles), the list goes on! Just be sure to mark "Knitted Squares", "No Commercial Value" and "For Charity Only" on the outside of your packages.

And there is no pressure to supply items if you can't afford them. Just have fun with your creativity! Be sure to post some photos of your work when you're finished so we can "oooh" and "aaah".

    Andrea :o)

    • What caused you to move to Canada?! That's so cool:)

What have you created and sent in for this project?

Thanks for all the help and the list of things that I can send and make!
      It definitely means a lot.

      • I'm actually from Canada, born in Montreal, Quebec. My husband was born in New York and was working in Ohio when we met online. Funnily enough, I was supposed to move down there when we married. It turned out that he was laid off and I got a much better job so we reversed our plans. He's been here since 2002, now has dual citizenship and we have two wonderful little boys, ages 5 and 2.

I second Christine's suggestion to check out my photo album. Thank you, Christine, for your kind words of encouragement! I'm blushing...

I've been crocheting for KAS for over 2 years. I've learned a lot and been able to take my projects to a new level. I've made squares, hats, GO-Overs and slipovers. I've even tried my hand at a puppet (check out Christine's album for her cuties - her profile pic is an example) and a few soft toys.

As you can see, Christine is one of many others on the forum who are wonderful, thoughtful people. Never hesitate to ask for help because there will always be someone there willing to lend a hand. :o)

        • That is so awesome!

You are very very talented. I hope to be as talented as you one day:)

      • Jessica, when Andrea says that she is a crocheter she means it. Take a look at the photos on her page.

And, not only that but she also designs flashcards. Her latest are http://square-circle-forum.ning.com/forum/topics/african-animal-fla...

        (Yes, I'm a fan.)

  • Hi jessica wonderful to have you on board. I'm sure you'll make plenty of friends. Chat soon!
    • Thanks for the welcome, Kalai!

      :D

  • Hi Jessica, I am from Ohio. Glad you joined and the squares can be acrylic or wool and it they aren't exactly 8 inch square you can still send them.  I hope you join the US group. Just click on groups at the top of the page and you will see the US group among the many groups. You can join more than one group.
    • I actually just moved to Illinois from Ohio! I used to live in Holmes County, right in the heart of Amish Country!!!
What kind of pattern do you use?
I wish I was more confident in switching colors, then I would make them fancy squares.

I joined the US group already:)
