thanks for the link it really helped
You are welcome!
so everyday will post some instructions be posted. I assume this won't be a live thing at a particular time.
wow what a great time to have it michaels has a 50 percent coupon on line (if your registered on line) and should be in paper. How thick a yarn should I get. Oh good I will able to buy the needles at 50 percent off I will have two coupons. So looking forward to this I have been wanting to learn something new. Thanks so
so much for doing this.
Peggy
Peggy, Michael's has Paton's yarn on sale for 2 for 8.00. That's a good buy because it is usually
6.99 a skein since it is pure wool. You will need 6 skeins for a KASCuddle. I will post the steps
and pictures to go with it and you can come to the Forum and type your questions and I will
answer them. Be sure to get worsted weight wool yarn and we will use it doubled for warmth.
You can certainly use other brands besides Paton's if you can get a good buy, just make sure it
says it's worsted weight.
You won't be able to use your coupon for the Paton's wool since it is already on sale but you will for
the circular 29" needle. Maybe you can find another brand and use your coupons for that. So glad you want to join in!!!
sorry to bother you again although that is a good price for yarn is I need 6 skeins it would cost
24.oo a little expensive for me. I have asked on the yaraholics board for suggestions on less
expensive yarn. I don't buy wool much so don't know much about prices.
Peggy,
You might want to give Freecyle a try. Here is a link to the Freecycle groups in your state:
http://www.freecycle.org/group/US/Colorado

Freecycle keeps usable items out of landfills. You might find someone who has yarn they no longer need or want. It's worth a try. I think you're going to have to buy your needle based on the size needed for this KAL.

If you can't get donated wool all the same colour you can do thick stripes like this one:

I think I would like to find some new yarn but there has to be something cheaper maybe not. I guess an acrylic one wouldn't be warm enough even if you made it out a thicker yarn like vannas yarn??
I don't know about acrylic, we'll have to see what Helen thinks. One thing I love about wool is that it's warm even when wet. Acrylic when wet is just wet and if the temperature is cold the yarn will be cold.

Have you thought of buying yarn on ebay? The yarn would be new (stuff on freecycle is often new, but sometimes people give away half skeins and leftovers) and with ebay you might catch a cheaper price.
Dawne and Peggy, I would really like to stay away from acrylic for the
KASCuddles this time. Many of the shack dwellings have roofs that leak
in the rainy season and the babies will get wet. Dawne, you are right
that when acrylic is wet there is no warmth in it then. But wool continues
to give warmth when wet. I think ebay is a wonderful alternative. I have
bought some beautiful wool yarn on ebay both at auction and on
Buy It Now sales and at astoundingly low prices.
I found wool ease on sale at michaels for 2.50 how much yardage do you need it is 80 acyrlic 20 wool. This would be affordable for me would this work
Peggy, I would not advise you to use Wool Ease because the acrylic content is too high and there is not enough wool in it to give
the babies warmth. Can your son who is very computer savvy
help you to look on ebay? If you type in "100% worsted wool yarn"
in the Search engine, you might find something affordable there.
