I continue to be inundated with the little square jumpers - 44 arrived today! Most of this lot would fit a toddler but I also have loads that only fit a small doll!! It is a pattern that really appeals to people but I know it is not knitting up big enough - I get so many with ridiculously small neck holes - I don't know who they think they will fit. The smallest ones I am unpicking and knitting up again as squares but could the pattern please come off the website to stop us getting any more - and should I post the larger ones yet?

There's an excellent website called yarn stardards that has various measurements: yarn standards
For neck opening, anything bigger than baby size, I just check to see if I can fit my own head through it.
Permalink Reply by P. Jeanne Haessler on April 4, 2011 at 9:36am Good point Mary. We have been told that the 2-3 year old heads are nearly the same size as adult heads. At least that is what either Ronda or Erin reported. Sorry, I forget which of them. :S
http://www.bevscountrycottage.com/size-chart.html This is Bev's Country Cottage excellent chart, also put here--the metric converter link is on the page above. Below is head sizes...the neck opening HAS to allow this sized head to go through. I am not including the baby sizes here as we truly can't use them right now but they're listed on the page link above. If your neck opening width is half the head size around, ie. head circumference 20" = 10" opening you'll have tons of room. Most of us find that a neck opening of a bit less than that, like 8 inches across (=16" around) will work because the neck usually stretches when put on. Hope this helps a little?
Toddler - preschooler (12 months - 3 years)
Head Circumference: 18" to 20 " 46 -48 cm; Hat height = 8" 20 cm

Pre-teens and Teens Hat
Head Circumference: 20 1/2" - 22" 53 -56 cm; height 9-10" 25 cm
Adult Woman
