Just made my very first square - does it look the right sort of thing? :-)

Hello everyone!

I've just found KAS a few days ago and think it's a wonderful idea! :-) I can't promise to be able to create a lot, as I'm a rather busy mama to 5 children (aged 8 an under!). But I've recently taken up doing some crochet to relax at night, and thought it would be great if it could actually be useful, rather than just items to take up space in my home! :-D So crocheting some squares would be just the sort of thing I could do here and there, and hopefully they'll add up!

Anyway, I've just this afternoon made my first square. It's an 8 inch granny square, and hoping it is the sort of thing you're looking for? So thought I'd ask before I make too many of the wrong thing! :-) I want to get some brighter coloured yarn to be more cheerful for children, but since I had some lovely warm 100% wool (thick aran weight) already in my stash, I thought I could get started using some of it, if the colours aren't too drab?

      Five children will keep you busy !  So it's lovely that you have found something relaxing to do and help children in South Africa.  A win-win situation :-)

          Wow! With 5 children under 8, you must be very busy indeed, Rachel. Thank you for taking the children of KAS into your heart as well. These squares are beauties and will add much needed warmth and colour to their lives. :))

    Beautiful first square !  Please use up the yarn in your stash especially if the colours are as pretty as these and 100% wool will make the square that much warmer.

    I see you have also added the 20"/50 cm tail and neatly butterflied it to the square.  The volunteers in South Africa really appreciate it when we do this :-)
