Square Circle Forum

What an honour!  A year or so ago, a KAS member Anne Beatty put us in touch with Andrew Geoghan who is the Australian Broadcasting Corporation's (ABC) foreign correspondent in South Africa.  I wrote to him but there was an election and many other things in between including the upcoming World Cup.

So we were delighted when we were contacted by the ABC, and very swiftly, last Thursday Andrew and his crew visited Ronda and the team at her home and then went on to Sister Sato's Vuselela Community Health Centre as part of a piece on Nelson Mandela's 92nd birthday.

It is a short, but it gets across the work you are all going.  Well done everyone, you have each of you made a historic connection to this very iconic, special, much loved, heroic man in your work for the children.

Now, if that doesn't inspire people, whatever will? Great for us!!!!!!
Ronda was brilliant! I'm glad the reporter mentioned hundreds of knitters from over 40 countries and showed the stacks and stacks of squares. This way people won't think it's just a Mandela Day thing.
oh my gosh - that is wonderful!!!! yay Ronda - she is so poised, she seems like a professional tv person.
I posted the link on my facebook page!

;-)
Cool about the Facebook page Mary. Bad news has always traveled fast - let's see if we can get good news to spread even faster!

Ronda was so poised. I couldn't agree more.
So did I! I try to spread the KAS word on Facebook as much as possible. :o)
That was brilliant.
Jeni

Ronda.....the new tv star!!!!!!!!

xx
I agree, way to go Sandy and Ronda!!!!

I've tweeted the link to the article & video, emailed to all my friends and family, and posted it to my Facebook page as well. SO EXCITING TO GET THIS EXPOSURE FOR KAS!!!!!

WHOO-HOO!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry, I can't contain myself - I haven't stopped smiling all morning!!!!!!
Smiling all morning is a good thing! What did your son think of the video?
OOOh!! I'm jumping up and down with joy!! Ronda is so cool and professional and the footage of the children wearing blankets and the piles of squares and the ladies making blankets...wonderful! I'm sending the link to everyone in my address book and I've posted it on Facebook. Hooray!!
It was a great video, wasn't it? For me it told the whole story; the end footage in Diepsloot in sharp contrast to the hopefulness of so many volunteers working together. A very human story. I am so delighted it made the page at the ABC website. I'm sure they had a lot of footage to choose from.
Yeah I loved this--happy tears and a BIIIIG smile too. And what an honor to be linked to Mr. Mandela's birthday and Nelson Mandela Day too. Wow. Love, love, LOVE it!
