Square Circle Forum

Hello forum members!

In an effort to bring you more free designer patterns we're looking for input from you.

Who is your favourite designer?  We want to know! We'll ask them to support KAS by offering a pattern. (I would find suggestions of crochet designers particularly helpful as I'm only familiar with knitting designers.)

The goal of the KasDesigner Pattern Series is to introduce even more folks to Knit-A-Square.  We hope that people looking for information about the designer will find our pattern.  We know that designers will help promote KAS within their networks.  And, of course, we hope these patterns will make knitting/crocheting for KAS even more fun for our members.

Sound good? The true winners will be the orphaned and vulnerable children of South Africa as we send more squares, make more blankets and warm more children.

Together we are really making a difference!

Hi Dawne, Your wish is my command. I have several favourite crochet designers:

Robyn Chachula. She is published by Interweave Press LLC, 201 East Fourth Street, Loveland CO80537-5655 or www.interweave.com She can also be contacted via her own website: www.crochetbyfaye.com

Lily Chin. Also published by Interweave Press

Doris Chan Her latest book was published by Potter Craft which is part of Crown Publishing Group. www.crownpublishing.com or www.pottercraft.com
Elaine,
thanks so much! Not only for the designers but for the contact info. Saved me a few minutes on Google! :)

All I can do is ask, hope they say yes and wait for them to have time to submit a design. If I hear a resounding yes from any of these designers I'll let you know. So far everyone has said yes!

:)
I think it's a great idea Dawne. I can offer more crochet designers if you're interested - the Interweave website is a real goldmine of information. I am assuming that the byword is 'the more the merrier'? I would have thought that designers/authors would be delighted to get free publicity for not too much effort whilst helping a wonderful cause. As you say, you can only ask. Hope it works out.
Yes! The CrochetDude for sure. Cross your fingers one and all.

I will be putting some time into this after the kids go back to school as we have several designers 'in the pipeline' but I'd love to line up 6 - 10 more.
Ysolda Teague - she is knitting, but I would love to see a square by her. http://ysolda.com/
Thanks for this suggestion. I love her work. I'll ask her, no problem. More knitted squares are great too :)
Jean Leinhauser appears to be my favorite designer; it's her 101 squares book I've been using for my squares =). I don't know how you would find her though, sorry!
Thanks for the suggestion Rachel. I'll see if I can track down her info. :) Someone who has published a squares book is a perfect match for KAS, IMO.
I woke up at 6 a.m. this morning thinking exactly the same thing. It's getting bad...!
Jan Eaton has written several knitting and crochet books including 3 or 4 devoted to afghan squares. She is published by David & Charles of Devon, England (thought I might as well fly the flag!): www.davidandcharles.co.uk

Also Edie Eckman, author of "Beyond the Square Crochet Motifs". She's published by Storey Publishing - www.storey.com - of North Adams, MA.
Thanks Elaine for the legwork! Good to have contact details.
Jean Leinhauser looks perfect. She has a new book due out in December this year which will be published by Potter Craft (see above).
