Using double knit yarn and size 5 mm needles cast on 90 stitches
Row 1: k2 p2 to end of row
Row 2: p2, k2 to end of row
These two rows complete the rib. Continue the pattern until work measures 4" (10 cm), ending on WS (wrong side).
Single rib pattern
Row 1: k1, p1 to end of row
Row 2: k to end of row
Row 3: k1, p1 to end of row
Row 4: k8, k2 tog to end of row (80 stitches remain)
Row 5: k1, p1 to end of row
Row 6: k7, k2 tog to end of row
Row 7: (and every alternate row, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17) k1, p1 to end of row
Row 8: k6, k2 tog to end of row
Row 10: k5, k2 tog to end of row
Row 12: k4, k2 tog to end of row
Row 14: k3, k2 tog to end of row
Row 16: k2, k2 tog to end of row
Row 18: k1, k2 tog to end of row
Repeat Row 18 until only 1 stitch remains
Cast (bind) off leaving a long enough piece of yarn to sew up.
To sew up turn your work to the wrong side, thread the piece of yarn strand with your yarn sewing needle and stitch from top to bottom.
PLEASE NOTE: This knitted hat can be increased in size or decreased in size by using different size needles from 3.5 mm - 7 mm.
