Square Circle Forum

Knit-a-square relies on contributions of squares, hats, handwarmers and toys… and financial donations. Yes, financial donations! Without them, it would be impossible to organize, sort and deliver the massive influx of love that is received at the KasBarn.

Expenses include:

• A postal charge of $3.75 US for every parcel received;
• Rent for the KasBarn;
• Fuel for the KasVan;
• A stipend for the gogos ($2 US per blanket) and another for Ronda’s ‘Right Hand.’

There are several ways you can help financially:

1. Make a donation whenever you are able.

2. Sign up for an ongoing monthly donation (subscription).

3. Shop at the KasShop!

Shopping at the KasShop is a great way to support Knit-a-square. It doesn’t matter what you buy – whether it’s by donation to wrap a child in a blanket or toward fuel for the KasVan, or for a downloadable gift for yourself, a friend or loved one – every penny you spend here is a direct donation to KAS.

Is there something you would like to see on the 'shelves' of the Shop?

Do you have an idea for a downloadable item we could create that might appeal to shoppers?

Please share your thoughts and ideas here.

The Shop Team will do our best to bring your ideas to life so they can raise much needed funds for Knit-a-square and the children in need.

I think that many of us will enjoy shopping for yarn for the Gogos, to enable them edge the childrens blankets that they have sewn up. The price options will suit most shoppers, if someone wants to buy $10 worth of yarn, then they can easily buy 2x $5 baskets. A welcome addition to the KAS shop :))

In the UK the options would equal in sterling :

Option 1 : £3.85

Option 2 : £11.50

Option 3 : £19.25

Perhaps some of the UK knitters/crocheters would comment as I've been using yarn given to me these past 3 years!

Sounds like a win-win to me. Ronda can purchase the yarn in S.A. at less than we can, we don't have to pay postage to send it, and the Gogos will be kept supplied with yarn for crocheting edges on the blankets.

The yarn I buy usually costs about £1 to £2 a ball for 100g in the UK but I do buy at the cheaper end of the price range.

Of course, if we buy it here in the UK there is also postage to add on - so this is far more cost effective!

I think the idea of buying a basket of yarn for the googols is a great one!

CHRISTMAS IS COMING AND SO ARE CRAFT SALES

Do you have fundraising sales or teas to raise money for postage or for making a one-off donation to KAS?

Do you ever wish you had something new and exciting to offer at your sale?

Something that takes almost no work?

We have some downloadable items in the KAS Shop that you might consider.

NOTECARDS

Our two South African Nature Series sets, the Flower Series, and the Toy Series, are great for gift giving or personal use.Download a set of six different cards for only $7.00 per set, a one-time purchase, then print as many as you wish!

We suggest having them printed at a good print shop.  Purchase card-sized  envelopes (very reasonable) and sell as sets or singles.

 For a touch of class, insert in a cello bag (available from Amazon)

You set the price!

ART  PRINTS

These original prints are 8x10 inches. Prints are $12.00 each or all three for $30.00.   After downloading, you can print as many copies as you like. (We suggest taking the download to a quality print shop)

These prints could be offered for sale, unframed in cello wrap, or inexpensively framed to create a ‘ready to go’ gift.

You set the price.!

HAPPY SELLING!

100 % of the proceeds of these items supports Knit-a-Square's work in South Africa
