I am still trying to learn the best ways of posting information on the site, and hope I am now doing it correctly. If not, many apologies to everyone! Over the weekend I made a little video about how I strengthen the edges of loom knit squares, and I mention in it that I knit for KasCare. Here's the link for anyone who might be interested. I hope the link works. If not, I will try again later! Check out this video on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JmjArIeG9y8&feature=youtube_gdata_player

  • I am really pleased you liked the video, Jeanne, and thank you also for putting such a nice comment about it onto YouTube.  I have now done 2 "sister" videos about loom knitting squares, and I have started a new discussion (called "Loom knit squares - more videos") giving the links if you want to take a look.
  • I just spent a happy 13 minutes watching your video Lucy.  Very easy to follow and understand. I agree, the loom knitting makes even hard yarns soft. I despaired over one donated ball, it didn't crochet up soft at all, I thought I'd have to toss it, but I tried a hat on the loom with it and wow it came out soft and thick.  And thick for squares is excellent too.  I agree about the top edge being tight no matter what is being made and your idea to move it onto a knitting needle is excellent.  Thanks again!

(Oh and views are now up to 186.)

  • This is Brilliant.  I have several looms sitting at home.  May have to give this a try!

    • Viewing is now up to 151 on You Tube!!!

  • Sandy is absolutely delighted with this wonderful video - it has already achieved 52 viewings on You Tube!  Well done Lucy, your commentary, is calming and assuring!

  • OK, Pam, I will get on with making a short "sister" video as you suggest, it's good fun to do, so that's great. I will put a link to it on the forum when it's complete.
  • From the KAS point of view Lucy, a video explaining how to produce an 8inch square on a loom would be absolutely wonderful - Ronda is receiving far too many rectangles, which slow up blanket production considerably! No pressure, but a 'sister' video to the first would be brilliant!

  • Thank you, Pam and Christine.   This video is the first I have ever uploaded to YouTube. It took me several goes (I got lots of error messages, so I tried again a few times) and what seems to have happened is that it got uploaded twice, which is why it says I have two videos, not one!  I learned to loom knit by watching lots of YouTube videos with titles like "Making a square with a round loom", and then I adapted the techniques I saw to make the  8 inch squares.  There is one YouTube video in particular where a lady is demonstrating her loom knitting technique outdoors in her garden, and that was a good starting point!  Because there are so many videos showing how to do the loom knitting itself, I didn't cover that in my video, but I guess I could always do a very short one - what do you think?   2965034570?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024

    • Well, as you say the subject is already well-covered on YouTube perhaps that might be a waste of your time. I just thought that yours was so clear and actually made me want to have a go (to be honest I've always thought that it might be boring to make square on a loom but I think you may have converted me as the squares are so attractive.)

  • Not only did the link work but the video was fascinating and, to someone who has never used a loom, very clear. Thank you for this - I might even have to buy a loom.

I noticed that it said 2 videos and I was hoping that you had previously made one on how to get started with a loom but I couldn't find a second one. Am I looking in the worng place or does that mean something completely different?

Well done for such clear instruction anyway, and for mentioning KAS throughout.
