On my blog we have been having a chat about all those good intentions we have to make gifts throughout the year. I thought I would start this off and perhaps we can add inspiration, patterns, ideas for gifts and pics of anything we have made ready for birthdays or next Christmas. I know we all beaver away for KAS but need to get those gifts made too. I usually only get as far as making a list of gifts I intend to make - then go out and buy things last minute. So let's support each other and see what we can produce this year.

Permalink Reply by Pam Johnson on January 5, 2012 at 10:03pm Thanks for the ideas Anne. There are so many things we could do if we were a bit more prepared! Some of the things on my list to make are decoupaged items like tissue box covers, plant pots, key holders, letter racks. I really enjoy decoupage and used to do a lot but guess what - haven't done any for ages. Also pots of hyacinths starting to sprout in a nice bowl. We make damson gin every year and a minature bottle of that is always a welcome little gift. The food gifts are so much more interesting than a box of chocolates aren't they.
Any more ideas for our list?
Mmm, damson gin sounds interesting. I really fancy making elderflower champagne. Its very yummy and seems quite straight forward.

Permalink Reply by Pam Johnson on January 7, 2012 at 6:24am It is very easy Jeni - I make cordial every year which lasts very well and is fantastic mixed with sparkling water. A friend of mine freezes hers in ice cube trays to take out through the summer. I love elderflowers - fantastic scent.
Permalink Reply by CHARIS GRIFFIN on January 6, 2012 at 5:18am This thread is giving me lots of good ideas for next year-though I must start SOON! Probably one of my most successful presents have been fingerless gloves-I have knitted lots of these and have had requests for more (my daughter has 3 pairs now-she works in a very cold office/unit and hers fingers go numb when on the computer all day!) They take very little time or yarn to knit and are SO practical. There are lots of lovely patterns in current knitting magazines and on Ravelry as they have become very fashionable( probably the only part of my current wardrobe that is fashionable!:) )
Permalink Reply by Pam Johnson on January 6, 2012 at 5:39am I have never had a go at gloves Charis - perhaps I should try them.
Have had another day making cards and will post some pics of my efforts. Fellow KASer Elaine Jones gave me a big box of card making supplies and I have been putting them to good use. Another friend gave me an old diary with beautiful pictures of cats - I have finally got around to cutting them out and with the fabric "paper" Elaine gave me have made some pretty good cards - if I do say so myself!
The cards sound interesting. Looking forward to photos.
Fingerless gloves are in fashion in Canada as well. I crocheted 2 pair last year and they were well received.
