As many of you know from my posts, I take my knitting with me absolutely everywhere. I literally feel naked without one of my bags and some squares going, either knitted or crocheted. Our teenage daughter isn't too thrilled about this, but she's become more tolerant with me. :-) I'm thinking I may have some mild form of adult ADD, but that's ok, it works for me! ;-)

We were in a clothes store a few months ago and while she was trying on item after item after item, I was knitting a square, sitting on the bench right outside of the changing rooms. Another mother asked me what I was making, as she was waiting on her daughter as well. I told her about KAS -- seems I'll chew anyone's ear off about it if they give me the slightest chance! -- and as we didn't have any paper handy to write down the URL, I used the back of one of my work business cards.

The idea then hit me to make KAS business/calling cards that we could share with whoever asks, or just drop around town for folks to find. I've printed up a bunch and keep them in the same business card holder as my work cards, and I hand them out wherever I can. If anyone asks me what I'm making, they get a card. If someone comments on what a lovely color of yarn I'm using, they get a card. I tell them about KAS, what we're doing and why, and ask them to make and send a square. I also suggest that if they're not able to, please pass the card on to someone else they know who knits or crochets, or who knows someone who does.

I'm hoping the cards are getting passed on all over town. I'm also printing them on regular paper to leave around town. Blank business card stock is nice to use if you have some and a color printer, but even in black and white on regular paper, the children's faces are beautiful and moving. I'm dropping some at book stores, craft and hobby stores, yarn stores, even at big stores like Wal-Mart.

You never know who will be Inspired to find one and help make squares!

I would like to use the business cards, but they say KASCARE not knit-a-square.
Or am I looking in the wrong place?
Jana,

These are the right cards to use -- Sandy reworked the resources to include the KASCare URL, as it is the umbrella non-profit organization. If people go to the KASCare site, they learn all about KAS and get the link to Knit A Square as well.

Thanks!
Rona
I love the business cards. I haven't used them very often but I find them handy to have at knitting guild meetings. The card would be handy too when asking local businesses for help with shipping costs for a KAS public event.

When I really have a chance to talk to someone I'll put my name and number on the back of card. This gives a person new to KasCare/KAS a direct connection if they have any questions. If I speak with someone about KAS but don't get a really interested vibe (maybe just a polite response) from them I'll give them a biz card but I won't put my name and number on the back. Each situation is a bit different and safety has to come first.

If I sense someone is interested but we don't have much time to chat I'll put the info. for the Ravelry group and this forum on the back of the card. That way it's still a personal touch, still offers a connection for the person as they get to know more about KAS.

There have been times I haven't had a biz card with me and was kicking myself for it. It's a great idea to keep at least 2 in each project bag.
