I got a note the other day from Nicky (Jan B's daughter) with the very sad news that Jan passed away early in February.

Many of you will recognize her by her adorable avatar

Jan was a very committed member of KAS.  She must have been an expert knitter - everything she made was exquisite.  Jan just kept churning out wonderful things for our kids - piles and piles of squares, vests, hats, KasCuddles, puppets and teddies.

Please check out her work at

Thank you, Jan, for your great contributions, and for caring so much.  You have made life better for so many children. We will miss you!

I will notify Nicky of this discussion and condolences can be left below for the family to see.

  • Please pass on our sincere condolences Anne to Nicky for the loss of her mother Jan B from all of us at KasCare.  What beautiful work Jan B did for the children and it is moving to see that her last contributions were just in January and that her work will be warming children this winter.  That is a legacy that I hope her family will be greatly proud of.

We are all sad to see the passing of another KasCommunity member.

  • Jan was always on guard!  If a spammer dared to hit the forum, the first I'd hear about it was from Jan!

Jan was also helpful during the Jigsaw offer and took quite a number of squares on behalf of other members to their shop in her area of West Sussex.

  • Such sad news. My sincere condolances to family and friends. Jan, you will be greatly missed. I hope your family will have some small comfort knowing you made a great difference to the children in SA.
