Square Circle Forum

Over time there have been many heartening comments about the ezine. But like all things there are always ways to improve. I now that some of the issues are just WAY to long, perhaps many of you would prefer shorter, more frequent news.

This thread is reserved for comments about Square Circle, what stories you loved, weren't that bothered about, what you would like to read more about.

We greatly value your feedback. Thanks Sandy

Hi Sandy, for me, the e-zines don't need to change format.
I am happy to read 'em when you can manage the time in your busy schedule to publish.
xx
Love it all when you can do them. I look forwad to my monthly read and pics.It is so motivating!!
Oh that's lovely Enid and Sue, thank you. Sandy
They are just fine and I look forward to them...
I really look forward to the ezine updates. Of course I love the pictures and the variety of stories of those in need and those touched by the squares. Some of the longer updates do take some time to read and digest. I set aside extra time so I don't have to hurry and can absorb the information.
It must take a good deal of time on your part to gather infor and organize, so I say what ever is easier for you Sandy. The ezine gives a boost to me to work harder, knit faster live up to our potential. I guess a more frequent ezine, even though smaller would be a more frequent motivator.
Sandy, I wouldn't change a thing. The stories and pictures help me to understand the real need and connect me with the kids and the people who are working with the kids. I look so forward to your updates because they remind me why I'm knitting and they humble me, which is a good thing ;-).
You are all being so encouraging. It is a great joy compiling the ezines so I will especially enjoy this one coming up. Thank you Paulette, Sue and Grace.
I really enjoy reading the ezines - I start checking every day from about the 20th of the month to see if there is a new one! I guess I would prefer shorter, more frequent ones (only because I'm impatient)- but whatever is easier for you. With a long issue, I usually go back to it many times to read it because I enjoy it so much, and often read it over and over (and look at the pictures again and again) - the longer issues 'tide me over' longer!
I really liked the last one where you did one about the kids and issues, and then another with 'Your work up close'. I love the pictures - of the kids getting stuff, and of the squares themselves. I really like the stories of when the blankets etc are given out - who were they given to, little things that happened (we hade 3 beanies left over, we need to go back with bigger blankets, this kid did something funny etc). It makes me feel like I'm 'there', and really makes it very personal. I like telling these stories to the kids at my school too, I think it makes it more real for them.
But whatever is easiest for you is the key thing - the last thing we want is you getting stressed or worried about it. Keep up the good work!
Thanks Elizabeth for your feedback. The little stories do make a difference don't they. How wonderful that you read it over and over. This one coming will have been the longest between issues, partly because we have been so taken up with KasCare and partly because I knew with Christmas looming that time would become concertinaed! The same is happening to Ronda, but I hope that people will forgive me the gap and it seems from your kind words that you are prepared to be patient. I think I will complete it next week.
As everyone here has said the ezines are brilliant as they are. Over the years I have read a number of ezines from differet orgaisations and yours is by far the best. (Likewise theForum)The personal stories connect us to the children we are trying to help. As has been said before you must do what is best for you but I don't find them too long and I love the variety that is in them. I also love the videos that are put on the site and referenced in the ezine.

It is undoubtedly a combination of the forum, the ezine and the main site which makes me feel this is something I'm really part of and involved in, and keeps me knittng and interested.

Sandy you're doing a fantastic job. Don't worry. I'm really concerned that a breakthrough in the funding issue comes very soon.
Hi Sandy: I won't repeat what everyone else has said, but I agree with EVERYTHING!!

I also start checking around the 20th looking for the next one. I have a notebook which has a copy of each one that is published. I make myself not look at the computer while the ezine is printing. Then, I find a quiet time and place and ENJOY EVERY WORD!!! You have done an awesome job and I would hate to see anything change in the ezine. Just don't let our impatience for the next one add more pressure to your already "full load". Oops, back to my knitting!!!! XOXOXO
Hi Sandy :)

I agree with what everyone has said. Sometimes an ezine will focus more on one topic than another and that makes a nice change for us. I like the variety of issues brought up, sometimes it's about blankets for little babies, remember than one in the shoebox? Other times it's the kids hiding in hills behind rocks, what a heart wrencher to realize they preferred that to the state run institutions (what it said about the institutions I mean) and how heart warming are each and every story you give us about people over there who are helping and what they're doing to help. We drink it all up and are eager for more. I don't think you've done anything wrong with the ezines so far, I'm a big fan. While I enjoy the ezines I think if they were smaller and came too often I'd be more likely to treat them lighter, this way I know I'm in for a good read with education for me, things to get motivated about, heartwarming pictures of people and children I already love just from their photos and the encouragement of seeing the youngsters of all ages wrapped in OUR squares and hats...yippee! We live in a world where the individual can be ignored, this is one way the individuals HERE and the individuals THERE are being connected and are counting, are mattering, this one on one connection can NOT be overestimated in value. It's a real treasure and the little stories here and there of specific children, even just a few lines about their situations, makes us feel we are right there. We long to hug them....and so we do, with our hooks and needles. THANK YOU! The ezines connect our hearts to their hearts.

Jeanne :)
