I have just found this link on Ravelry and it looks like a good source of new stitch and square patterns, both knitting and crochet.Although the squares are 12" I am sure we resourceful Kasfolk could deal with that!

And this new waffle stitch is just gorgeous. I just bought a new pair of knitting needles and this stitch is going to be their first project. Thanks so much for posting the link.
Permalink Reply by CHARIS GRIFFIN on February 9, 2012 at 2:14pm I am so glad you find my 'research' useful, Donna-I just love browsing and adding more patterns to my ever-growing collection! The only problem is I should really be sleeping -so many stitches, so much wool, so little time! I would love to see what you make-have fun with the new needles:)
