Team KAS (KASlympics) FINISH LINE/Tally (was Roster/Tally)

Hi everyone! Please post here if you will be joining us on Team KAS for the KASlympics – all are welcomed!

I'll be running the tally of our completed squares, go-overs, hats, etc...  here, while Kyla is in Vancouver.

(Edited to add:) Please come back here to post your completed items, as well as post them at the February Challenge, if they are for the big kids! :-)

(ETA) Our teenage daughter M. created "ravatars" for us to use, if you like -- you can pick up yours at my blog.

(ETA) Editing to clear space to start our tally -- everyone is welcome to add their completed item counts, whether you signed up before or not! :-) Please post to this thread as items are completed, counting your items completed in the total for each item. Please see the last thread to get the latest counts.

Go Team KAS!!!
Thanks!
Rona

The yarn and hook are ready....count me in for 1 Go-Over and matching hat.
i'm in!
Rona: You can add me to the list - am going to work on just squares - have done 4 hats and a GO in the last couple of days, but will add them into the 2010 Tally. Looking forward to seeing how this goes! I am assuming that this is the same challenge as Kyla's Olympics Challenge? Laurie
Laurie, yes, I'm helping to tally the finished items, as Kyla is in Vancouver herself. Thanks!
Morning, team! There were some questions over on our Ravelry page, so I'm posting the reply here as well. If you're not a member of Ravelry, don't worry about the details around a project page and tagging -- please just post your finished items at this thread as you complete them, so I can tally them up. Let me know if you have any questions! GO TEAM KAS!!!

"Rhonda, You've got it -- we are to maintain our member rosters on our own threads here -- there are hundreds of groups so too many for the moderators to be updating member lists. :-) I've been editing my initial post above, to add on names as we go, as well as over on our KAS Forum challenge thread (though I work full-time so will be updating once a day outside of business hours).

All we have to do is start knitting/crocheting as of the moment the Olympics Opening Ceremony starts (5:00 PM Mountain Standard Time here in Colorado, USA, so check your local times), and cheer on your country's team while you make items for our KAS orphans! (You can start at any time during the games, you don't have to cast on during the opening ceremony, unless you want to. ;-) )

Please make a project page for each item, and tag them with the following tags:
"click on the “r” in the circle in the tag line when you create/edit your projects, and select the following:

**ravelympics2010, teamkas, eventcharity** (or whatever event you want to participate in, if not that one)"

When you're through with each item, mark your project page 100% complete, and please post here your completed item, as I will keep a tally of items completed here as well as over on our KAS Forum challenge thread. I've created one for a go-over, for hats, and for squares, so I have three project pages ready and waiting. I'm planning on making lots of squares and hats, but not necessarily a project page for each -- the important thing is to make our squares, go-overs, hats, etc..., and I'd rather we invest our time in doing those, than the administrivia of maintaining lots of individual project pages, if that makes sense. If you create one project page with the required ravelympics and team tag, then you'll get the "medal" goodie at the end. :-)

The Ravelympics run through closing ceremonies on 28 Feb and officially end at 11:59 PM your local time. You can continue to finish items after the closing ceremonies, too, just email me to let me know, if you don't mind, so I can be sure to include them in our final tally.

When all is said and done, all participants will receive an electronic medal of some sort, regardless of number completed, as it's not a competition but a gathering in the spirit of the games, and in our case, of KAS.

Please let me know if anyone has any questions! I'm dressed in my KAS t-shirt from CafePress that arrived yesterday, just in time! Let the games begin, whoo-hoo! :-)

O.K. Sue R here and I am signing up for the KAS Team. I have been training and am ready for the challenge. I understand as I finish an event (item) I list it here. I am going with my favorite events to avoid injury. We will probably get snow here in Colorado during the Olympics which will really help out (causing me to stay inside and stick with my chosen sport). Wow, the anticipation is building since the opening is tonight.........................ready team.
Welcome, Sue! Where are you located in Colorado? I'm in Colorado Springs. Small world! :-)
I'm in, too! Great idea, Rona! I'm in the middle of a go-over made from felted squares from a big men's sweater from the consignment shop. I'm crocheting the squares together and learning as I go. I have 2 more sets of felted squares from sweaters to put together. Any ideas for other ways to do this? I may try hand- sewing them together with a decorative stitch. Has anyone tried this?
What a great idea, Debbie - never occurred to me to use felted squares - these would be awesoome for the Hill Kids. Hope you will post a photo and add your G-O to our Feb/Mar challenge. Maybe we could persuade you to write something up about assembling these felted squares.
I have some felted squares ready to post with our next big batch - maybe I will try to stitch them together to make a GO before I post. I wonder if it would work if I made a GO with felted squares for the front and back, but knitted sleeves? So the sleeves would still be flexible? I'm worried that felted sleeves might be too stiff. How is yours coming along Donna?
I might try the knitted sleeves and see if it works.
Knitted sleeves make a lot of sense to me. I think you're right that felted square sleeves might end up feeling like one was wearing armor rather than a sweater, lol.
Hello TeamKAS! My Ravelry ID is all hosed up -- would it be possible for someone with a Ravelry ID to visit the TeamKAS thread on the KnitASquare group on Ravelry, let the team members know there that I haven't abandoned them but I just can't log in right now (I'm rondaletts there)? They can come over here to post any completed items, while I wait impatiently for my ID to be manually reset by the great folks over there, who I'm sure are totally swamped with Ravelympics issues right now.

Please let me know, thanks!
