Square Circle Forum

I was needing a bit of a pick-me-up today, so I went searching through my box of papers for some quotes I knew that I had in there.

This one really resonated with me this past week - "I will tell myself that it is ok to be scatterbrained once in a while, and that sometimes the kindness you show will balance out your faults." I really needed to heat this one at the moment - I needed a reminder to be gentle with myself.

Another one which means a lot to me is

"The question I've been afraid to ask"

"Sometimes I would like to ask God why He allows poverty, suffering, and injustice when He could do something about it.”

“Well, why don’t you ask Him?”

“Because I’m afraid He would ask me the same question.”

(Anonymous) -a quote from A Hole in the Gospel, by Richard Stearn, President of World Vision. I got this from www.wearethatfamily.com (click that link for life changing stories about the horrific poverty in Kenya)

Thats a lovely quote Pam :)

What a heart-warming, thought-provoking quote, Pam. Thanks for sharing.

Not a quote but a story... Two friends were walking along a beach and came to a spot littered with hundreds of starfish that had been stranded above the high tide line by a giant wave..Knowing they all would die, one of the men picked up a starfish and walked down to the water and put it in.

His friend said "Are you crazy? There's hundreds of them we can't save them all. Let's go - it won't make any difference."

The answer?... "Well it made a difference to that one"

Anne, I have heard this story before and it is one of my favorites!

Making a difference doesn't have to be big or global...it is important even for one little person.  But finding out you can make a difference in someone's life is definitely contagious : >D

I grew up in extreme poverty and remember many people (some I will never know) who made a difference in my life. It made me determined to give, even when I only had the littlest things or time to give.

Elizabeth, that last story/quote may be the most powerful one I've ever read.  I will be writing that one down in my book of quotes, verses and sayings that I am making for sons, grands. Thanks!

Two quotations that have often helped me in tough times are:

In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity (Einstein)

Creativity cures the chaos in the heart (Tibetan proverb)

And one that is very relevant to KAS:

Nobody made a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could only do a little (Edmund Burke)

I love so many of the quotations on this thread and will have to add them to my quote book!

What a great idea, Dana... quotes can get you through many a challenging situation/stage in your life.

Debbie posted this on Facebook, whilst not a famous quote, it sits well with our aims in KAS.

I love this comment, from such a special man :

And isn't that where it begins?
