I've seen a few people using these recently, and was wondering if it might be a good fit for KAS (given how member-driven it is)? Two examples which operate in Australia are:…Continue

Cross stitch anyone?

This may seem like a strange topic given the nature of this forum but I know many knitters and crocheters also like to do other crafts - or have friends or family who do.  I have been given a…Continue

Fundraising for Postage

There's an interesting discussion in the US group about a commercial venture called "planetpurl" who are offering to send 1000 squares and donate $1 per square to two charities (I assume that's…Continue

Hello dear KasFundraisers, a happy belated New Year.  Hope to spend a bit more time in the forum and groups this year, so have just sent a broadcast and posted a discussion about the challenges for the year.   I would be so grateful if you could hop on in there and add your ideas and thoughts.  The suggested list is by no means set in stone.  A vibrant conversation will inspire people to knit and crochet more and the mantra never changes: more hands, more squares, more warm children.  Hope to chat to you in there.  Sandy

Looking forward to seeing how it goes. Such a cute idea.

Uh - I kind of gathered that - a case of tangled fingers I think!  My typing goes like that sometimes when I try to type too fast.  I've been thinking about it and I'm going to see if Pam will do a report following the "event" at which, hopefully, she's going to offer people the chance to win the toy.  With a bit of collaboration we should be able to tell everyone what she's doing and how much she raised.

Such a grorgeou sidea Elaine. Maybe you could put the discussion up just for people to have another idea of cool and cute ways to raise postage?

Thanks Sylvia.  I used to make lots of soft toys years ago before the EU Commission made up lots of new rules and regulations.....    I love it when I get to stitch the face - that's when the toy really comes to life.  I've added a photo to the main gallery which has attracted some attention.  I'm not sure exactly how Pam is going to be running the competiton - I think she would prefer to hold it locally so she doesn't have the cost of posting the toy to the winner but I'll e-mail her and ask her to read this thread.  I'll see if I can find a suitable home for a posting on the main forum - really just in case anyone else wants to do something similar.

He's wonderful. How skilled you are Elaine. He's so beautifully made and you've given him such a lovely personality. This would probably reach more members if you also put it on the main forum page under one of the headings which gets frequent readers. Will you or Christine be putting up details about how we can enter this competition?

I've posted this in the main photo gallery but I thought I would add it here as well.  We are hoping that this little puppy will raise some much needed funds for postage.  I made him and gave him to Pam Johnson the other day - she is hoping to hold a "guess the name of the puppy" competiton to help pay the cost of sending all the donated squares and sweaters she has received from her ever-growing circle of knitters.  Fingers crossed!

Almost raised $100 cash for KAS

Wow, it is quiet here, everyone must be very busy :) I know i have been busy elsewhere, but wanted to pop in and ask if anyone had thought of charity auctions on Ebay?

I don't know exactly how it works but you can list items for charity or sell something you no longer need and maybe raise funds for postage?

Postage is not too bad from Canada if you ship surface. I sent a 1kg bag yesterday for $26 and got a lot of stuff in there.
