Square Circle Forum

Over the past month, I have been given 4 garbage bags of yarn ( yes, garbage bags ). Adding this to  my own stash means I am "snowed" under with yarn.  I would like to share with you.

Most of it is acrylic but there is also a large bag of chunky 75% acrylic/25% wool in various colours.

Would you like some yarn?????   I am willing to mail anywhere in Canada (postage included ).

Wow, Linda.  Did a yarn store close??  That is awesome what a windfall.  I hope you get many requests for the yarn.  I don't need any right now.  I have 5 very large bins of yarn I need to work through.

Hi Linda,

What a generous offer, I would love to receive some, I am hoping that my class of college students will join me in knitting for the cause.

Nina, I received yarn from 3 different sources.  In two of the cases, the women had passed on. Their families were sorting through her things and wanted the yarn to go to a worthy cause.( I also received 2 blankets.....one completed and one that needs to be finished.)  In the third case, a friend of a friend of a friend :-) heard about KAS but can't knit any more because of arthritis so send the yarn via her friends.

The people who knit/crochet for KAS here in the Sault all have ample stashes which is one of the reasons I offered it here.

I also have a few pattern books.  Once I go through them I will probably offer the knitting books as well.

Well, being a yarnaholic how could I say "no" to some skeins of chunky yarn?  I love working with the thicker weights!  By all means "bring it on"! LOL.  99% of my stash is worsted, sport or baby yarn.  I have to buy the thicker yarns myself. Yay chunky! :)  As it is I am often combining 2-3 strands together for hats or cuddles or sweaters.  I just mailed a chunky yarn sweater a month ago.  It actually turned out the right size too.  Wonders may never cease and it worked up soooo fast.  I was thrilled with it! So I would use the chunky yarn for hats or sweaters perhaps...I'd have to see and feel it to decide.

Hi Linda,

I was a little hesitant to say send me some yarn but please do.  I would love to help you do squares for KAS.  Let me know what to do.

Please do, I like crocheting squares, so some worsted will do.   Thank-you!  It would be fun to have different colours to work with.  Happy New Year!
Thanks for the offer of yarn Linda.  At the moment I have more than enough to keep me going.

I am so pleased that 4 of you were willing to take some yarn.  When I was offered the bags I thought she meant grocery bags not garbage bags.   But then as a yarnaholic I couldn't say no :-)  I crochet quite quickly but I knew I couldn't get through that pile for quite a while so it's great to have other hands working on squares.  The yarn, as squares, will arrive in South Africa in a reasonable time.

Maria is teaching her students to knit.  What a wonderful thing to do !  Now we will have more hands making more squares to keep more children warm.

What a great windfall Linda.  I can never say "no" to yarn:)  If you still have some to give away I would certainly take some.  It doesn't matter what you send.  I can knit with just about anything.  Isn't there a saying that "many hands make light work."  I would to try a KAS cuddle and can always make lots of squares to send off.
Sherri, I shall send you some yarn.

The yarn has been distributed !   I did keep some for myself :-)

Thank you and I'm looking forward to seeing photos of items made with the yarn.

I hear you and shall obey "my master".  (makes a Darth Vader like bow)

The bus stop just called.  As soon as I get the car at lunch I am SO over to snag the parcel! Thanks Linda!!!
