Just a quick note to our Aussie& New Zealand KAS friends who may not have been following the 'Pay the Rent for a Day' discussion. Some of our members in the UK/US/Canada have banded together to make up teams of five to jointly pay the rent for a day for the new KAS office. Mary De Rome posted the following invitation to us in the above discussion a few days ago and I thought I would post it here as well. Mary would love to get a team together to pay the rent for a day.....In her words....'I was hoping that we could find 5 Aussies to pay a days rent. I will be the first to agree come on aussies come on'
ARE YOU MAKING A NAVY SCARF?
Please visit the discussion at
Any stitch you like Joanne, the criteria is that they are navy blue and the measurements in the discussion are stuck too. For the width, if you aim for 8 inches you won't go wrong! Just clink on Anne's link and scroll down the pattern!
IMPORTANT NOTE RE: THE NAVY BLUE SCARF PROJECT
This is a really important project for KAS and will benefit the cold school children.
Here's the Link to the Blue Scarf Project discussion. You will find all the details about scarf requirements and WHY we are doing this in the introduction
Pam is doing a "Totaliser" in the intro, so once a month when we hear from Ronda how many scarves have arrived, Pam will update it For every 10 scarves she will use a scarf symbol. Every time we reach 50, she will post a school bus.
The current number of scarves to arrive is 44 - we are close to getting our first bus!
The benefit KAS receives in having their mail picked up and delivered to the offices by the pharmaceutical company and in addition the monetary help in rent money are both real advantages for KAS. In return, we need to get on board and support KAS by making and donating the navy scarves
Please post photos of your scarves in the discussion and in Photos - we have an album started
You will be very pleased to know that the strike has ended!
THE POSTAL STRIKE IN SOUTH AFRICA IS OVER - OFFICIAL!
Wendy collected 27 boxes and 24 large mail bags full of post today and Bryanston expect to receive post for KAS from the central sorting depot - everyday! It took three trips, so the team will be having an opening day Thursday!
First pics from Wendy : SORTED IN AFRICA
Not to worry, Sue....can't be helped when you don't know. When the strike is over a notice will be put in the 'news flash' box, on the right hand side of any page you go to on KAS. Thank you for your continued support. :))
I think the strike is into its third month now, so it has been going for a loooong time and that is why they are concerned about getting too many parcels piling up at the other end of the journey. :))
I didn't know there was a postal strike and sent a box a couple of weeks ago, even the guy at the post office didn't tell me
