Square Circle Forum

Well I guess I spoke too soon. I was adding a new comment and it locked me out again. :(

This is what I was trying to post --

I'm so excited, even though our school year is now over until August and clubs won't start up again until October :(, I just spoke with the activities coordinator at a local retirement home and will be bringing the KAS story to the residents there soon! She's heard of KAS and said that residents there would definitely be interested in making squares. I'm trying to spread the word around town here, and can't wait to help get them started.

Rona,
This is fabulous! I've always felt that KAS is a match with any group, not just school groups; seniors, home-schoolers, neighbors and scouts to name a few. The potential is certainly there. I predict great success and lovely new connections for you. Great way to spend some time this summer IMO.

:)
The school I run my knitting club from has a ladies "open prison" across the road. The school is very big on involving all community groups in the life of the school. There may be a possibility of getting a group going over there. What do you think?
Evelyn, yes I think that's a great idea, though you'd have to talk with the administration there about any risks bringing knitting needles and crochet hooks on to the grounds, unless they allow them already. Anywhere we can spread the word is worth a try!
Fab idea, no harm in trying anything new and different. Might even help the youngsters to see that it is somewhere they don't want to go and also give the inmates an opportunity to do something more positive and rewarding. Good luck.

Congratulations, that is brilliant. It could be lovely for the kids to tie in with elderly residents. What a great opportunity for a bit of generation gap bridging.
