about the left-handed sweater

Heather, Did you have to reverse the pattern? I knit left-handed I don't think it would make a difference. People comment all the time, "I have never seen anyone knit left-handed before."

Left handed people definately use their right hands more than righties use their left. I guess we have all had to be good at adapting when different equipment is or isn't available/invented. Not only are we left handed but we are also incredibly good at adapting.

Maybe the reason I don't like knitting is because I was taught to do it by a right handed person ?  I should look into doing it left-handed.....there must be a youtube video for it.   Paula, any suggestions would be appreciated !

Right-hand needle to left-hand needle? Congratulations - I think that means you are a real leftie.

Most of my family are right-handed, including my 3 children.  Both my parents were right-handed too.  Where did it come from?  My knitting is right to left, am I doing it backwards?  Very confusing.

I do most things left-handed...writing, cutting, sewing, cooking, etc. I used to play golf and bat a ball right-handed (lack of lefty golf clubs!) but played tennis left-handed. I haven't played any sports for some years now...content to walk on the treadmill and ride a bike. It has come in handy when I've taught writing...who else can help a lefty?? I knit in the conventional way...left to right and crochet with my left hand. My husband and one of my two sons are lefties so 3/4 of this family is left-handed while in the rest of the population it is only 10% lefty, 90% righty. Interesting!

I think left-handed people have to learn to use both hands or we wouldn't survive in this right-handed world.  I tried golf and wasn't very good at it as I couldn't figure out which way to swing. The club didn't feel comfortable in either hand.  The problem might also be because I'm not exactly athletic :-)

I can use the computer mouse with either hand.  It was a bit of a challenge for the right hand at first.

When I started school, the teacher asked my parents if they wanted me changed to a right handed writer.  Fortunately my parents said no and they showed me how to angle the paper so I wasn't writing and dragging my hand across the paper.

I found a pair of scissors that can be used with either hand !  What a bonus.  I find I switch from left to right depending upon the skill needed to cut.  Any fine work with sewing, etc I use my left hand.

Sports come into the crochet category for me - don't feel right in either hand which is what I blame for not being good at any of them.

Tennis, bowling, right-handed too.  Left-handed doesn't feel right for those things and bad results in bowling too, can't keep the ball out of the gutter.  Very strange.

Me too. Writing and sewing left-handed, painting (as in decorating) either, and knitting, crochet, knives and  scissors right-handed. How many people in this group are completely left-handed?
