Hi

After purchasing a 1980s Bond Knitting machine as a way to knit faster for KAS and struggling for the first 2 weeks just to work out how to put it together, i thought it may be a good idea if anyone else out there also has a machine which they knit on to give advice to us less experienced and for us to share ideas for patterns etc.

I am in the process of perfecting my first go-over suitable for round about an 8 year old and will add the pattern when i have finished.

Here is a pic of the first one.  Knitted in self patterning Aran the flowers were made on a flower loom and the leaves done in chain stitch. This was done to hide a minor mistake!

It looks beautiful, I think the flowers are incredibly sweet and would never have guessed that they covered up a mistake if you hadn't said so! :)

I've got a six month old Bond machine which is great for jumpers/sweaters, beanies and the like, which is probably almost identical to yours. (They really haven't changed much!) I've also got a late '70s Singer memo-matic machine, which is more complicated but great for finer items like lace work, skirts and socks. I love them both to bits, because they let me try out my own patterns without spending weeks and weeks hand-knitting something I might end up hating.
I love your go-over, and it looks very professional to me.
A friend of mine had one, and she used to knit the cuffs, hem, and neck which gave the sweaters a real hand knit look, and gave her the pleasure of hand knitting too.
The flower embellishment really sets it off.
I did a couple of vests in the purple self striping, and loved working with it, and it felt so soft.
Hopefully this is just the first of many go-overs you'll make on your new machine.

well thats  a good go, you done better than me.

I just finished a blanket tonight on my KM and i dont really like it?

yes thats a good idea if we can help one another.

Good effort for a beginner. If you Google you will find plenty of videos on the Bond machine, or the Ultimate Sweater Machine which are out there in the internet. I have a Knitmaster 700 with ribber attachment which I am still learning to use.
