Sewing dollies for KAS kids

Hi new members,

Paulette and I started making the cutest dollies from a free pattern which you can find at

Dolly Donations which is a wonderful blog run by a lovely lady Sarah.

This pattern is so easy and great to use up your scraps, so if you enjoy a break from knitting and still want to do some good, why not join us in making some dollies ?

We will be starting a new Doll Drive very soon too.

Here are the first two I have made to give you an idea how they look.

well out of my fleece there happened to be width and length of fabric that i could not get mittens out off so I squared the width off ...trimed the ends even ...put a flannel on ... presto...neck scarf !!!!

That is so awesome Paulette!  I've been trying to decide what to do with some fabric I have.  I initially bought it to make a poncho, it's like woven yarn, but it isn't solid enough by itself.  It would have to be backed with fabric or used for a cardigan.  At first I thought I might try making squares from it, but I think it will do better made into pullovers.  Anyone have ideas on this?

well it feels good to be sewing again....I am into the fleece for now with the SA winter on its way and am doing fleece pants with elastic waist and elastic around ankles for sizes 2-3 and 3-4 with fleece mittens out of the scraps...kinda FUN!!

Glad you are on the mend Paulette and can start making more of your lovely dollies.  Some photos are in the pipeline and hopefully will appear around Easter time.  I've been bogged down with work, have managed cross stitching some more copies of squares ready to sew onto my little bags.  So I'm only with the Sewing Group in spirit at the moment!  Do take care of your hands though and don't over do it.

Hi...I am starting to sew again happy to say...I may not be crocheting for a long while yet due to my hands but the sewing machine is good...I have bee doing wool felt squares and sewing a pretty edge around them and placing a cottoncloth circle centered on each with fancy stitching around ( out of sewing scraps) so everything is very colorful...have some dolly ready to finish up and some size 2-3 patterns copy off for pants and a easy top...am I missing out over the months are is there no longer any monthly up date of pictures and news of SA passed along...miss not seeing the children...will be getting a box sent off and doing more machine sewing right along so will look forward to seeing and hearing of what you are doing!!!!!

Thank you ladies!  I had a chance to go to the fabric store this week and I picked up some great remnants to use in making the dolls and hopefully some puppets too :o)  I had fun, it's a hard to balance myself between beautiful fabric and beautiful yarn LOL!  So naturally I had to get some more yarn too!  I have limited space and I really have to keep after myself not to over do it, but I'm very creative in finding ways to stash my goodies!!  I also picked up a pattern and fabric to make my granddaughter a little sundress (she is 18 months old).....so I'm excited to work on that too.  Hope you all have a wonderful week!

Hugs and blessings!

Hi ladies and welcome Mary Anne :) I have not been very active on the forum for a while, life has been busy here, but it's all good.

I hope to get some more dollies sewn up in the near future, wanted to finish up some hats and squares to get sent off this week. Hope you are all well.

Hello sewing gals!  I'm going to join you in working on some dolls, between crocheting squares.....I absolutely love them!  I'm also working up a pattern for puppets, as I cannot find one I like LOL.  Once I get one done, I will post pictures and pattern!

Have an awesome and productive day and thank you for allowing me to be a part of your sewing club!
