Hi,  I use white un-dyed wool yarn, superwash won't shrink -regular wool will felt & shrink if not careful. Before dying any yarn FIRST soak yarn in sink in lukewarm water with a drop of soap till yarn is soaked thru-about 15 min or so- Gently squeeze out excess water and lay in microwaveable casserole dish....To dye with koolaid ,buy the colors you like then pour them separatly into little plastic cups . Now get a larger cup of water & put in a couple tablespoons or so of white vinegar & stir it up.(vinegar is acidic & helps set the dye so it won't wash out)  Pour a small amount of vinegar water into each cup, the color should be strong... Now take an eyedropper or (a veterinarian plastic syringe is what I use ) & choose your first color from your cups...squirt it on your yarn here & there...Now do it with your next color.etc,etc,etc..But be careful because colors will mix in bottom of casserole dish and turn into mud..But you can soak up excess on bottom of dish with papertowels after every color to keep colors pure.Turn yarn over in dish after  2 or 3 colors because bottom will still be white. Squirt & color till you're happy...Now you can cover dish with plastic wrap to keep in moisture...Set microwave on medium..you don't want to cook your yarn, but it has to get hot to take in the dye...Heat for 5 minutes at a time ..for 15 min. or so. Take out & let cool at room temperature..Then rinse in lukewarm water in sink. Water should almost be clear - if not -you didn't heat long enough (dye didn't set into yarn) but you can always put more dye on & put back in microwave again. Trial & Error is how we learn. You can also add white vinegar to your final rinse water to help set the dye. For more info put "how to dye yarn" into your search window (computer) and you'll get several sites for help--Like     KNITTY.com,   Ravelry   etc. Hope you have a blast & post some pics.  PS cotton will dye also I believe. You can also put yarn on plastic bag, newspapers etc on the counter top for the squirting part so colors dont turn to mud. Just dont let liquid pool AT bottom of yarn. But some color mixing will be interesting...EXPERIMENT.
