Comment by Anneke on December 23, 2010 at 1:03am Hi Gayle, thanks! Nice to hear that you enjoy looking at the picture. We will feed the birds, they are waiting in the tree behind the birds hut. The robin living in our garden has no fear at all for us.
There is more snow to come, help!!! Nonetheless I love this time of the year.....

Comment by Anneke on December 22, 2010 at 10:58am Hi Pauline, Thanks! the "chalet" looks much bigger because of the snow on the roof! In the tree behind it we also have food for the birds, cats will not be able to catch the birds there too. Your birdsfeeders are a very good idea, the seeds stay dry and that is what birds like. I can imagine the behaviour of your cat because of the feeder onto the window ;-))))
Comment by Anneke on December 22, 2010 at 10:47am Hi Jana. Thanks! It's not a picture that should be a winning one in a contest, but just to show how beautiful gardenlife of birds in winter can be ;-)
Comment by P. Jeanne Haessler on December 22, 2010 at 4:46am LOL to Pam about the coffee. I feel similarly about my usually cold meals. Ugh! I am often interrupted by pets, birds or kids. (Thank goodness for microwaves!) I remember Evening and Pine Grosbeaks, Hairy and Downy woodpeckers, chickadees, Pine Siskins, Nuthatches, Blue Jays, Whiskey Jacks, Cedar Waxwings, various sparrows, basically all the birds too nuts to migrate, turning up. ;) The ravens would land if they could get a feather in edgewise. We used to buy sunflower seeds and bags of wild bird seed in the 50 and 75 pound sack sizes. Living in town now, I miss all that work and all my feathered friends. :)
Comment by Pauline HD on December 22, 2010 at 3:52am That's a great bird chalet!! The birds in my garden are having to make do with bird feeders hanging from the trees, but judging by the number that visit each day they are popular. I found a feeder that fits onto a window--much to the amusement of Freddie the cat!
