What wonderful colours, my fav has to be the pink hat. Love the pom poms.

Yes, I think the chunky yarn helps. If the yarn is at all fuzzy, that helps too. I just need to make a note on my pattern because I always forget that I don't like the way it turns out if I use 1 strand of something like Red Heart.

A chunky yarn usually equals using two strands of worsted, and a bulky usually equals three strands, if memory serves, and sometimes it sure doesn't, lol. These are FAB. I am guessing they are in teens or adult sizes since the kids fit that size from 2-3 years old, it now turns out. I find double crochet in a fluffy or brushed yarn isn't gappy, otherwise I'm using the dc/sc combo, then I've got no gaps. :) However it seems I'm not able to count to save my life so I too am usually using the rectangle and sew it up hat pattern. :) Love the Poms they just add that extra something.

Hey, thanks a lot, Mary and Rachel! Oh, and Rachel, I use a chunky 100% wool yarn, which, I guess, adds thickness?
