not a knot

Andrea posted a link for a technique to use up short ends of yarn without lots of knots or ends to weave in. http://www.heartstringsfiberarts.com/russian-join.shtm
The top five squares have been made by that method, the crocheted one using Mary's pattern and the knitted ones are Helen's Rib Variation pattern. http://square-circle-forum.ning.com/forum/topics/challenge-try-something-newrib
Dozens of short lengths went into these.

It is a bit fiddly doing the initial joining Susan but somehow not as irritating as having ends to weave in and I enjoyed the random effect whilst knitting. I'm looking forward to seeing other people's squares etc.

Thanks so much for this link!  I bought a huge box of yarn for $3.00 at a church yard sale and this will come in handy for using up a lot of the shorter lengths!  Love your work!

Christine, I love your work. You do such a great job with colour coordination and your squares are so even. :o)

These are lovely Christine. I shall be trying this later today. Can't wait. I like knitting with multicolours but SO hate all those ends. Thanks to Andrea for the link and to you for these inspiring squares.
