can't tell in the photo but one of the yarns is an angora so this square is very soft and fluffy!

I never use YO to increase diagonals or mitres, always kfb. Is this way better?
If you want to avoid the holes, knit the YO (yarn over) through the back loop (tbl) - that eliminates the holes nicely!
Love the colour and the pattern. I use a similar one to you, only I create yarn over holes (if that is the technical term) for the increasing.
