Hi Jayne - glad you like them! if you look down the comments page there is an explanation from me how I made them.  With regards to hiding the new yarn, after joining in the second colour I just knit 2 rows then pick up the other colour and knit 2 rows and continue in this way, alternating the 2 colours - it still creates a neat edge but is really easy !! hope that helps, Kathyx

Hi,

I just love your stripey squares, how did you hide the new yarn ?

Many thanks

Thanks Jeanne! it's great to share ideas.  I have taken inspiration from photographs posted, it's a great way to keep trying something different.  Just adds to the creativity and satisfaction!

Way to go on giving the pattern Kathy. I've got this now put up in the Patterns Section, go take a look and if you need to add or clarify anything just make a comment right below it.  You're famous!  ;)

oh they are so so easy to do! any size needles, any wool, cast on 2 and knit them, then increase in 1st stitch on next 2 rows until you have 4 stitches. Then every row after increase in 2nd stitch at beginning of each row.  When side measures 8 inches, knit 1 complete row, then decrease 1 stitch at beginning of every row (I do mine 2nd stitch in).  When doing stripes, I wait to introduce 2nd colour until I have 6 stitches on needle, then when on the decreasing side of square, when 6 stitches left knit same colour.  Increasing/decreasing 2nd stitch in gives a nice edge which is easy to sew......have fun!

I agree, I love diagonal striping too. These are great! I envy knitters the ability to make these, I really do. :)
