I liked Wendy's pattern but in my knitting/UK yarns they came out a bit on the small side. Rather than starting again I inserted another section into the one on the head so it now has two seams (an excuse for not knitting in the round at last.) They are all more colourful in real life and getting progressively bigger.

Comment by Wendy on January 29, 2012 at 4:24pm These look terrific Christine. I love the bright vibrant colours. Glad that someone else has been able to follow my pattern ok, but yes, it is a shame that yarns can differ so much between counties, sadly makes the outcome of a pattern a bit less certain.

Comment by CHARIS GRIFFIN on January 25, 2012 at 12:13pm Thanks Christine, I will try this and let you know how I get on
Comment by Christine Johnson on January 25, 2012 at 12:09pm Charis, these are from a pattern that Wendy linked on her photo of some lovely beanies she made. http://square-circle-forum.ning.com/photo/beanies-jan-2012?context=... As I pointed out before I didn't find that the 60 stitches in the pattern made a sufficiently big hat with the yarns (UK acrylic dk used double, 100% wool dk used double, or 100% wool Aran) I was using so I ended up by casting on at least 65. The hat on the head had 63 stitches originally and acquired another 11 by the time it was completed. I didn't think I knitted tightly but will be interested to hear how you get on.
Comment by CHARIS GRIFFIN on January 25, 2012 at 11:23am Christine, I have tried to find the pattern for this hat as I really like it-can you point me in the right direction please?
Comment by CHARIS GRIFFIN on January 25, 2012 at 10:48am These are simply stunning! I especially like the checkerboard though it is very difficult to choose a favourite.
Wow - great colours and I really love the one with the checks. I wish I would be brave enough to try this out
Comment by P. Jeanne Haessler on January 24, 2012 at 11:15am Wow, that check one really bounces out and grabs me. They're all lovely. Don't worry Christine, though we need mainly teen/adult sized hats for the children in South Africa, Zimbabwe is short on everything and any small hats will go there on a truck that heads up there a few times a year. Great yarn choices here. That pink one on the head is really pretty.
Comment by Bev Jeffery on January 24, 2012 at 2:40am They are all so..wow! Can't decide my fave.....between the check and the pink and orange stripe I think.
