Bev - thank you for your response to my message.  My more recent squares are meeting the 8" "requirement".  This is such a great way to make a difference.  I'm happy to be part of it.  Nancy

This is a great way for a senior citizen to contribute to a worthy cause all the while using up all the "left-over" yarn from long ago finished products.  I must admit I haven't knit in quite a while and not know the "size" of the yarn, a few of my first tries did not come out exactly 8 inches square.  Can they still be used?  Thank you.

Dear Bev, thank you for your messages.

Funny but I am exactly in the same position as Patricia Underwood (below). I've been  sending hats and squares to KAS for years, but only just joined the forum. The main reason is that I have a question: as I'm getting older, my wrists are not so great and I find it easier to knit DOUBLE, i.e. my squares are 2Dk on 51/2mm needles. They are thicker, of course but still pliable and very warm. Is that OK?

Dear Bev

Thank you so much for the lovely warm welcome but I've actually been sending my work to KAS for the last 5 years - I just hadn't got round to joining the Forum before! Now I need to work out how to add some photos ..

Hi Bev,

Thank you so much for the welcome email! I joined the forum after I found your website and facebook page. My mom, Rosie, is the knitter and I was searching online for places to donate new knitted items. We are in the USA and just did a general search and your organization came up! I've also been in touch with Pam on facebook.

Rosie and I will be sending the first box with mostly hats and sweaters for children. She has the pattern now for the squares and has started making hand warmers. Next box will be all squares and hand warmers.

We want to help and are so glad to find an organization like yours that does such nice work.

Thank you for the note and all the links. I'll stay in touch!

Bev,

Thank you for the tip! I've never done diagonal squares before so it will be my first. I absolutely love what you have knitted. They are gorgeous! I love the embellishments you have put on them they are so cute. Do they stay on well?

Hi Bev,

Thank you for that warm welcome, I've already been looking at your site and I am excited to get started. I don't know how much I will be able to complete as I am a slow knitter but PJ's are my forte. I am hoping to donate once every six months. Which gives me plenty of time. I do love the idea of a themed month, looking forward to seeing what is next months theme.

Thank you for all the links I look forward to getting to know this site pretty well!

- Jasmine
