Hi Christine, glad to hear how you've rediscovered the joys of knitting.  I agree that it is relaxing - and portable.  I knit right up to the operating room door with the consent of my doctors while fighting cancer and a number of operations some years back.  Robert Hoddy has a pattern on the site for a jewel pattern that I used as a guide for stitch count for approximations for picture squares.  There are a few I posted on my page if you want to take a look.  There are some beautiful examples on the photo pages.  I hope and pray for the best for your Mother.  Best to you both, Arlene

Hi Christine,  Welcome to the Square Circle!  Do you knit or crochet or both?  There are all kinds of great  ideas on the photos page and the people on the site are very helpful and encouraging.  I just joined last month and found this site a friendly place to visit.  It's wonderful to be able to help the kids and to enjoy making things for them.  Welcome! Arlene
