I looked at Sandy's list of ideas for upcoming monthly challenges, and there is a focus on Santa and Christmas one month next fall, so if we go ahead with the fourth creche adoption, October will be very timely in relation to monthly…

May I add a "Right on!" to what Anne says below???!!!  Our group at Clear Lake Methodist could not send what it does without help with funding from our church.  And folks are eager to help.......IF we get busy and let them know…

It's not likely this will happen, Ute, and has not in the past.  I'm sure Ronda will decide which  creche she will distribute to and make certain she has everything she needs from what has been already sent before she travels to…

Phyllis, in the U.S. we ourselves must send the squares to Africa.  Jigsaw has extended the date in the UK only to accept more squares until Feb. 27 but that does not apply to the U.S.  We will not begin our donation collection until Oct.…

Melissa, I believe the cost of the creche adoption is still at $550.00.  I have not heard of any change.

Oops, Ute, forgot to mention that sponsorship of a creche also includes the assurance that each child will receive a hat, a blanket, and a soft toy...........and a booklet also (if Ronda has enough of them for each child.)

Ute, each sponsorship of a SA creche costs $550.00.  We all go together as a group in each country and contribute money to reach our total.  This money gives Ronda extra and much needed cash for gasoline to reach the farther out from her…

Hi, All!  I know we are always thinking of ways to support KAS, and certainly our opportunities to sponsor three creches have been just the best actions we could have taken as a group in the last couple of years.  The idea has been rolling…

Ute.........I forgot to address the needles you are using.  Most of the KAS knitters use anywhere from a 4.5mm to a 6mm for their squares.  I doubt most of them go much bigger than a 6mm.  So you might want to rethink using the…

Hi Helen....just want you to know that I just received my brava yarn in and it is just like you said, very soft and so easy to work with.  Thanks for the tip and I am knitting up a storm.  Nothing new yet on finding a sponsor here in the states for us to ship to?  If you hear anything, please pass it on and thanks again.  Have a pleasant evening.....Phyllis

HI helen! So nice to meet you I am Pamela from Nebraska & I just joined the forum at KAS. I made 3 crocheted squares and am going to mail them, yay!! Not that they were the exact 8" but the nice ladies there said to mail them in anyways. I REALLY would love to knit  a Kas-Cuddle for a child and I was wondering if you might know how many yards of yarn I would need and it would be okay to use a combanation of 84% baby alpaca, 8% merino wool & 8% nylon and it says to use a size 9 US knitting needle (instead of the 13 US it suggests on the pattern) . Thanks so much for your help on this and so nice to meet you!!!

Sincerely,

Pamela

Hello Helen, I am told you are the person to ask about Cuddles. I am starting a group for this charity and have some sewers that would like to be involved. It was suggested that cuddles could be made of fleece. Will that be acceptable? I am going to try my best to search the forum for a pattern. I am new to this all. Any advise will be helpful.
