Julie Cave said… Hi Isabelle, I hope your trip is going well. I used 3 of your photo's with the French translation that you sent me to bring KAS to the attention of my neighbour who works in a retirement home and a friend who is a special needs teacher in 3 local schools. Your photographs really show the human face of this tragedy and I am sure that when people see the faces of the children, they will be moved to help.
My sister also works with special needs children in the UK. She told me about a 6 year old boy who really struggled at school but was persuaded to join the knitting group. He has become an excellent knitter and even made his mum a hat and scarf for Christmas! It's also helped his concentration and coordination.

Pam Antink said… Hello Isabelle - thanks for putting these lovely photographs up ! And thanks, too, for the squares, soft toys and kids' clothing you brought to SA ... Wandi is involved in a big outreach project on 20th August to feed and clothe MANY needy children, so you have helped start her collection and she is thrilled !! Lindi has the flu today so she stayed in bed.
See you soon - thanks again - love Ronda and all on the KAS team in Jhb xxx

Donna Radu said… Isabelle,
Loved that article about you in the latest ezine! I think you're utterly amazing. If I had your hectic schedule, I would use any "down" time I had to recover! Instead, you fill your off-hours with work for others. Really inspiring!
On the practical level, I very much enjoyed the picture of you with your arms full of little knitted dolls. Could you tell me if the pattern for those dolls is available on the KAS website? Thanks, and bravissima!

Dawson said… About the website: well, they still need 2000 words, and you could pass that on to your friends (if you want to).
About the flyer: That's great! They'll definitly break down the language barrier!
Dawson said… I was looking around charities and found OLPC (one laptop per child). Long story short, they are a big charity that needs help translating their material into multible languages, including french. If you want to help them in your free time when you aren't helping KAS, here is the website. http://translate.sugarlabs.org/ It's just translation words, phrases, and sentences. I just thought I should mention it since you are bilingual. I'm not advocating this over KAS, it's more of a free time thing. Sorry if I'm annoying you.
P.S. They mention something about having an account on there to be able to translate. You can trust this charity, it's 100% legit.
P.S.S. How is the flyer going? I haven't seen it in other languages yet. Have fun in South Africa!
