Jana Hunter replied to Kalai McDonald's discussion 'Anyone feel like a chat?'
Hi, Kalai. I guess I will be the first one! I am Jana in Saudi Arabia. Last year I had my class make squares, after I taught them to crochet. I just passed out supplies yesterday to my NEW class (12 girls and 3 boys!) and I will start teaching them…

Sorry. Abdullah did NOT make this dragon! I did! It was a gift for him for being Student of the Week. All amigurumi in the shots were made by me.

I don't know if I've ever seen a more cheerful grouping of squares! Tell them "high fives" from me.

I just love these pictures! The squares are awesome, and the kids look so proud of what they've done, not just the crocheting, but helping other children far away. What a wonderful thing you are doing with them!

Hi, Jana. Hope you had a great holiday in the US with you family. I'm sure they were all very pleased to see you. You must have lots to tell them when you go home.

I expect by now you are back in Saudi and getting settled in for a new term. Perhaps your students will surprise you with lots more knitted squares!!

It is starting to feel a little autumnal in the UK, although that said, it was quite warm again today and it is expected that we will be back in the high twenties (centrigrade) tomorrow.

Bye for now. Angela xx

Hi, Jana. I hope your flight to Atlanta went well and I'm sure you had a lovely family reunion.

How impressive!! I love your shawar kamise and how good you obviously are at needlework. The outfit is just beautiful. I have always admired Indian and Pakistan dress and would love to own a sari. Do you make a lot of your own clothes?

Bye for now. Angela x

Jana hello, hope you are safely in Atlanta now. I sent your photograph of the children to Ronda who was truly thrilled. Anyway just wanted to welcome you personally to our friendly KAS community.

I hope you will enjoy the forum and your region's group which you can find under groups on the main menu.

We are still continuing our July Challenge - keep a newborn warm, making blankets for abandoned babies, but look out for the August Challenge going up today! You can find the details in the main forum.

Did you receive e-zine no 12? If not you can view it
here.

Look forward to chatting to you soon, Sandy

Hi Jana, lovely to hear from you and great to read all about how you have taught your students to crochet and produce squares for KAS. It is wonderful that there are so many young people around the world very eager to show they care and prepared to do something about the plight of people in much less fortunate circumstances. Yes, the picture came through very clearly, with the 'squares' taking centre stage; very well done to your kids! I love your outfit - is that a form of national dress, or something you have chosen to wear?

You must be looking forward to seeing your daughters. I hope you have a good journey - 19 hours of flying is quite a haul. I don't have to go quite so far when visiting our son, he lives in Hampshire which is about 200 miles from us; or visiting our daughter who now lives in Bristol, which is about 130 miles from us.
Enjoy your holiday. Take care. Angela x

Hi Jana, just to say hello and glad you have found the Knit-a-Square family and joined the forum, which is like a large family home, with so much going on. It is just amazing how far and wide the word is spreading in order to help the children of South Africa. You will, I'm sure, find everyone so very enthusiastic and welcoming, not to mention inspiring and caring.
Take care. Angela x
