I am sending a first class letter to the square address as it is the only one I have.I am requesting a note or email back saying it arrived.Until then, no more squares. I am not spending time and money and not knowing if anything arrives. It may be fine for some, but if a charity is too busy to acknowledge receipt, then its not for me.Regards,Jessie NelsonSee More

Hi Jessie

Just to add to Jeanne's comment. You must have posted it about 2 weeks before christmas and we all know how many extra parcels travel around the world this time of year...it can take longer for things to arrive...and I may be incorrect in this, but I thought I read where Rhonda is away on a little break at the moment so chances are if she is the main collector they could be sitting in the post office in S.A. waiting to be collected.

Also when they post the latest lists of those squares received, they can be those that have actually been received a couple of months ago. Due to the large volume that are received each week and the fact that Rhonda and her lovely volunteers are trying to get as many as possible to the distribution points in the shortest time, the recording and making up of lists must sometimes take a back seat to the more important task of having these blankets sewn up for these poor children and given to them asap.

Please, have faith, as we all must do each time we send a parcel. For when your parcel  arrives you will have made such a difference to a child or children. You may not always find out directly; and as Jeanne has said, your only acknowledgement may be to see a hat or some of your squares wrapped with love around a child. xx

Hi Jessie,

If you sent by seamail, it's 6-10 weeks from Canada.  I know they make every effort to add names and addresses to a list of arrived squares then post the list online here every couple of months, though it's very time consuming.  They are in the process of coming up with a barcode label idea so they can just scan and it will automatically register who you are and add you to the list.  Right now I admit I just check the distribution photos and now and again see a square or hat of mine.  In the first year only one package went astray and now it seems pretty well none do.  You can ask Kalai, on the forum, just find her name under the January Challenge for example, click on it and personally ask her how they're doing on keeping track of what's arrived and what hasn't arrived yet.  If you sent it airmail then it should be there.  The question is, how many other packages also arrived?  Yours could be sitting in Ronda's living room in one of those huge piles.  :)

Hope I reassured if not exactly helped.

luv, Jeanne :)

Welcome to KAS, Jessie from up in Canada above MN.  I find KAS such a rewarding cause to be involved in and I hope you enjoy it too. I love being able to directly affect the children for good, no government channels to go through, no time delay...I send the parcels, they get unpacked, assembled and handed to the children. Love it!  Do check out the New Member Guide which is found by clicking "Main Page" in the header above.  To reach the Discussions just click Forum above and if you click on Photos above, you will see items that are heading to Africa, in all colors and shapes, plus those that have arrived there. If you click on Groups, above, you can join the very enthusiastic USA group or any groups you wish, to chat with.  Any questions just PM me. :)  So, welcome to Knit A Square! Blankets and hats and sweaters direct from our hands to their hearts, a win-win.  And now we’re helping out over in Zimbabwe too and they need everything over there.  I just love making a real difference in a child’s life.  So welcome aboard!
