It was great when Jigsaw stepped up and said they'd ship squares for you guys last year.  I wish it had been extended but perhaps we'll be lucky and some other company will step forwards and do the overseas shipping for you.

About how many squares and other items did you send to Knit-a-Square in 2010? None, I could not afford to send the squares I have knitted. They are still sitting here taking up space in my very small living area... About how much does it cost you…

I have mailed lots of sqs and also to planet purl ... yes it would be very nice to have a program of sorts that would be willing to help...I think it is around 1.20 per sq for me to send and I do send other things in a box...a box is over 120.00…

Julie,   Were you able to locate a company or organization that would help U.S. knitters/crocheters mail our items to South Africa?  I started knitting for K-A-S in Jan. 2010.  In May 2010 my husband died and my finances changed…

I am fascinated by the variety of patterns and effects here. Lovely work! Mind you it wouldn't surprise me if you didn't drink grape juice for a month after finishing up this lot, lol.

Julie:

Sorry I didn't get around to it earlier, but I wanted to tell you that the video about using the "faux" double crochet stitch instead of chaining three at the start of a new row was absolutely fantastic.  That's my "ladder up" of choice now.  I appreciate your steering me that way!

Many thanks and happy new year!

Hi Julie, I love your fruity hats - pretty colours and I noticed that they have a 'rib' effect border. I have been trying to work out how to achieve this in crochet and I was hoping that you could tell me what the stitch is called so that I can look it up. I've just used back-post sc for a KASCuddle and I liked the effect on one side of that but it's going in the wrong direction for hats unless I make a rectangle and gather the top? Is there another way? As I am typing this I can see photos of the beautiful things that you have made and there seem to be lots of lovely hats. I have made some crochet progress but I still have a long way to go.

Julie,
I was looking into that 200 Crochet Squares book, but the reviews on Amazon.com said there were A LOT of errors in the patterns; have you found that to be a problem? I'm enjoying watching your squares go by =); I REALLY like those star squares! What a beautiful pattern/color combination!

Hi Julie, Sorry not to reply to your query sooner than this. I was away for several days and since I got home I have not done much on the computer. Today is the first time I have had time on my own so I thought I'd pop in and see what has been going on in KAS world. I can't seem to find the book which had the pattern in it but I will look tonight, and get back to you a.s.a.p. There's a war going on in this house books and yarn fight for space - who know which will win out in the end?! And I always know exactly where anything is - that is until I want to put my hands on it. lv - Jen

great to hear back from you. once we moved to Maryland we lived in Alexandria virginia before that. We moved to Maryland to afford a townhouse.
I knew once we moved there I wouldn't be visiting my friends or going back to virginia. The beltway then overwhelmed me. I feel so blessed to live here because had we stayed in Maryland to afford a house we would have to move out further and my husband already had a hour commute. Moving to CS was a blessing I think it was a better environment for my boys and my husbands job is only a beautiful 15 min drive away and we could afford a 3,000 square foot house it was new when we moved in. They were in a housing slump when we moved here. Colorado Springs has grown so much since then but I absolutely love it here.

Thanks for your quick response. I am a knitter and did start on a square last night with just a simple pattern. It's always nice to hear from others though. Thanks again and have a great day.
