Hi June, I just love Portland. I often go up to the lighthouse to take my little dog for a walk. Been  a bit cold lately though. What size hats are you making and are they difficult to do. Isn't it brilliant that so many people are getting on board with this worthwhile cause. I have been trying to recruit a few more people but not having much success up to now but will keep trying. The more the merrier I say. Keep in touch. Jean

Oh, sorry June I didn't make myself clear. Yes Jigsaw are a clothing chain who very kindly undertook to collect and send squares for us during Oct/Nov/Dec. thus saving some of us quite large sums of money. We thought the offer had ended but it has been extended until 27 Feb and the container will leave their Head Office shortly after that. Details are here:http://insidejigsaw.blogspot.com/2012/02/knit-square-continues.html

Squares can be sent to their Head Office which is : Charlotte Taylor,

                                                                           Jigsaw

                                                                           159 Mortlake Road

                                                                            Kew

                                                                            TW9 4AW

or taken to any of their branches (except John Lewis concessions) which you can find listed here:http://www.jigsaw-online.com/jigsaw-stores/South+West

I don't think that there is one very near you but as long as they arrive before the 27th they could be posted. It would probably only save you a pound or two but they would arrive quite quickly once they've been shipped. I usually just put mine into plastic bags with a note of my name and how many I'm sending, plus the yarn type used (woollen squares go to different recipients than acrylics), then wrap everything with brown paper or something similar. Jigsaw have been amazing and we are all hoping that they or someone else will offer something similar on another occasion. There's information onsite but it can be so difficult to find information now that the site has become so big. I hope I haven't confused you even more.

Hi June, lovely to have you with us. Just a thought - if you can post some squares by about  21st of February you could send them to Jigsaw at Kew for a fraction of the cost. The wonderful offer definitely ends on 27 Feb but it has been a real blessing to members living in the UK. Happy knitting.

Welcome to KAS, June from across the Pond in Canada.  I'm a crocheter and not always a brilliant one either, Knit A Square has given me much needed practise, believe me!  And all levels of expertise fit in here, everybody can contribute.

I find KAS such a rewarding cause to be involved in and I hope you enjoy it too.  Do check out the New Member Guide which is found by clicking "Main Page" in the header above.  To reach the Discussions threads just click Forum above and if you click on Photos above, you will see items that are heading to Africa, in all colors and shapes, plus those that have arrived there. If you click on Groups, above, you can join the friendly imaginative UK group or any groups you wish, to chat with.  Any questions just PM me. :)  So, welcome to Knit A Square! Blankets and hats and sweaters direct from our hands to their hearts, a win-win.

And now we’re helping out over in Zimbabwe too and they need everything over there.  I just love making a real difference in a child’s life.  So welcome aboard!

Welcome June, so glad to have you aboard. No need to worry about not being a great knitter, everything is always so welcomed. We are a very friendly bunch from around the world all working to the same goal...to help keep the children warm. Take a look on the photos tab at the top of the page. There are some wonderful pieces of work to admire and inspire but at the same time 'plain janes' are also very much needed. There is also a UK group, again, at the top of the page under 'groups'.  Be warned, this can become addictive!  Happy Knitting  :)
