"Very funny and very true. I keep forgetting I'm not in my twenties and just can't do the things I used to without a ton of bodily protests or outright refusals, lol. I'm not a huge fan of mirrors either. I always feel much thinner…"

"I think our chronological age doesn't really matter. (Tell that to our youth oriented society!) It's how young at heart we are and that we can still contribute to our world. Retirement can free us up to be able to give our love to those in…"

"That's very amusing Jen. I've got friends from 5 years old to 94 and I guess to some I'm an "ancient of days" and to others I'm a "young sprout". Age is all relative I guess. I remember going to see the movie…"

"Hi Lauren, nice to meet you. I hope you get as much pleasure from working for KAS as I have, it is a project that has really touched my heart. Like many others here I feel that I almost get more out of it than I give. Vests, squares, beanies -…"

"Vests...anything to help these often so sick and neglected little ones keep in more body heat is very welcome indeed. So long as it's long in the torso and relatively high on the upper chest, to keep them warm, I'm sure they will be…"

Greetings!

My name is Lauren.  I am 63, have two grown daughters and one grandson who just turned 18.  I have been crocheting since my daughters were babies and I crocheted their first baby blanket.  Now I am so grateful to find K-A-S where I know that my meditative moments crocheting will benefit children in need.  My church knitting group has started making squares to send to K-A-S as well.  I will be sending vests and squares soon.  Thank you so much for doing this.  What a loving project!See More

Hello Lauren and welcome to our KAS community.

Thank you for joining the KAS community and for your contributions to the orphaned and vulnerable children, we are seeking to help.

We invite you to check out the forum guidelines. They will give you a good idea of how to get the best out of being a member http://forum.knit-a-square.com/forum/categories/forum-guidelines/listForCategory

Please pop into the main forum and introduce yourself. http://forum.knit-a-square.com/forum/categories/meeting-you/listForCategory

Here, for example, is a post that will touch your heart and so aptly describes why the work we do for the children means so much: http://forum.knit-a-square.com/forum/topics/thank-you-kas-from-the-bottom

You may also like to start you own personal blog in which you can post your news, views and family stories and photos. http://forum.knit-a-square.com/forum/categories/members-personal-blogs/listForCategory

We run a challenge each month. This month it is ‘Make it in May' and we would love you to participate, especially knowing that whatever you make will soon benefit one of our children.

Don't forget to post photographs of your work, either in the challenge month, or in your personal blogs as well as in the photos section of the forum. We have an awesome gallery of the work the KAS community is doing in photos, which is really inspiring.
